Michigan State in 2000, when they beat the Gators in Indianapolis. I was there to see Florida beat UNC in the semifinals, while Mich State handled Wisconsin. Due to the proximity, the Big 10 schools had most of the tickets, and secured an even bigger crowd advantage after buying up the remaining tickets from disappointed Tar Heel and Badger fans. So whoever wins Monday, there will be a Gator connection.
My memory of that Michigan State game: Billy Packer referring to Teddy Dupay as a thug for defending Mateen Cleaves.
And how Packer couldn't contain himself as Cleaves was walking down the hall to come back onto the court after his injury.
We barely won the first game of that tournament. Mike Miller made a move to the basket in the final second and won it for us.
