The left wants the IRS to generally go after anyone who is evading their fair share of taxes. The right wants the IRS to go after Hunter Biden. Not exactly an equivalent both sides issue.

And they DID go after Hunter Biden. It’s an atrocious false equivalence.

    Hunter was a crook.
Going after the boogeyman…not so much a good thing.

ANY millionaire who is dodging paying their taxes should be held accountable. ALL of them. I can’t imagine anyone thinking this is a bad idea unless they are a millionaire who cheats on their taxes.

Yep, they’re everywhere. Millionaires not paying taxes. Just look at em. How embarrassing for you. You actually took the time to write that crap. And you actually believe it too.

So what so you want these 1600 IRS agents to do on a daily basis, if not pursue people that the IRS says already owe back taxes? Good lord.

If they IRS announced they were going after Hollywood elite you'd be pooping in your Depends in excitement.

    PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:

The IRS has a division called the "Taxpayer Advocate" service. If you're getting squeezed unfairly by the IRS - or just getting the run around with different people - here's what to do:
    1. Contact your Congressional rep and let them know you're having trouble with IRS and
    2. You would like some help through the Taxpayer Advocate service.

You will typically be contacted within a week and have someone with a brain help you. This has helped me a couple of times and several of my friends. Many people don't know about this; but, it's one area where your Congress rep earns his or her money. I've had REP help me and DEM help me; so, it's not a partisan thing. Hopefully, this will save a few folks a lot of hearnburn and heartache. Pass it on.

In Jax the Taxpayer advocacy group is in the same building as the IRS. The IRS agents even told me if I felt I was being treated unfarily to go speak with them.

It doesn't take as much time to get to that "Millionaire" status anymore. I'd be more impressed if it were billionaires, but go after whoever is not paying their taxes.

AMYONE cheating on their taxes should face a penalty.. especially those that are Uber rich.
I will point out that saying MILLIONAIRE sounds like they are going after the big dogs but it’s not. Millionaires area dime a dozen today.
I would also contend that the some on the left want people to pay their fair share as has been stated but struggle to define fair share. It seems the last decade or so that’s been a moving target.
Then some on the right want Simplified tax code… with nonidea how to do it.
So basically two stupid catch phrases
    FAIR SHARE
    SIMPLE TAX CODE

No one is saying not to go after millionaires who cheat on their taxes. It's how you define "cheat" that blurs the line. Like I said earlier, even spending $20,000 to have a tax firm, one of the Top 15 best firms in the South, the IRS still came calling. Very frustrating when even those who do this for a living can't get it right. So you pay them and the penalties, for what? What's the point? I will say this is extreme because my wife's business makes pretty much everyone elses here look like a florist. 75 employees with more paper supplies than a Staples where business is handled by a purchase order, rather than point-of-sale. She's had to learn thousands of rules over the years, very painfully at times. Everything is taxed, even supplies that were taxed when she bought them - per a usage tax, which she found is on everything, including the staplers. 100,000 items that have to be audited every year. I wished there was a simplified tax code because she's not unique - every manufacturing company goes through this. Our tax code is the most complicated of any in human history.

Should tax laws be enforced or would you consider taxes optional?

I don’t disagree that the tax code is a mess and horribly over complicated and needs to be simplified. But people who owe back taxes need to pay them. Full stop.

I think at one point Trump said he'd make it so everyone did their taxes on one simple index card, or something like that. While he obviously never did that, at least he and I agreed on something.

I think both are true and need to be done. With regards to targeting big dogs, I assume they are targeting those that owe the most. I’d guess those people probably have tens if not hundreds of millions.

Note the lack of GC lawyers commenting on this thread. That is because if they are like the lawyers I know they are tax cheating millionaires.
