What you say is true, but the former scenario is more common in my experience. And mathematically speaking, who’s more likely to be abusive, real daddy or the soon-to-be stepdaddy who was banging mommy while daddy was off working?

No doubt. Seen it many times. But that’s also true with all kinds of laws. Self defense, for instance. Can you deliberately provoke a person into an act where they respond violently and you just happen to be prepared to kill them when they do? Yep. Does it mean I would strip the rest of humanity of their right of self defense on account of someone who would do that? Nope.

My father was a judge and absolutely loathed his time in family court. I'm sure stuff like this was why.

this post is as shallow as Boulder Creek in February. First, not really sure what statistical sig has to do with it. If you have both pops as opposed to samples, are you rilly in the world of stat analysis? I doubt you have a def of materiality* that is useful to you here. I find it VERY weird that someone who presumably is on the side of trans folks, would invoke a small # v. large # arg.

So here are some other places where your thoughts seem odd.
    1. speaking of small #s, how many pubs want Fault Divorce....I now know of 1 if that podcast dick is even in fact a pub. & after some thought, he very well may change his mind.
    2. why don't both issues affect ALL WOMEN? You think a 12 yo girl that gets up at 5am 5 days a week to swim her ass off is not affected by seeing a trans woman (I think that's the right term) win a college meet or whatever? You think unmarried women & their decisions are not impacted by divorce related laws?
    3. * speaking of materiality, there are trans women beating bio women, displacing them from teams etc. That seems more material than what ifs based on an emotional podcaster. 1 thing is happening, the other thing has next to 0 prob of happening. My understanding & maybe I am wrong, is that everyone can use the no fault option in every state. so, 0 < 110,000 & 110,000 is a cruel & dismissive # to use in the first place.
    4. It's pretty weird to say 85m > 110k & that matters & 50 < 110k & that doesn't matter.

p.s. I would love to come down & discuss it further, M-R @ Zoe Ma Ma

I clearly discussed why it should remain legal. I'm also making the side point that no fault divorce has a tragic consequence in its own right.

Selfish parents that cant do the right thing leave wrecked kids in their wake. (Not doing the right thing would include abusive adults in the home.)

My son would be absolutely crushed. He's 12 and is on the court beside our house waiting to shoot hoops with me every evening when I pull in. The image of that kid being alone is unbearable to me to fathom.

    Are you guys reading???
I am not on the "other side" . No fault divorce should be legal. What are you talking about? Read my first post where i clearly say it needs to remain legal and that Crowder is an idiot.

I am referring to his flippant remark that woman are viewed as property only.

My view on no fault divorce is that while tragic to the family structure and to many kids, and the hurt spouse... it needs to remain legal to protect people from abbusive situations or animosity and anger that can grow from two people no longer loving each other.

    I was crystal clear.

Yeah, I watched other families getting split up as we were raising our kids and remembering thinking that I would have had to absolutely despise my wife to split our family up. I was way too invested in my kids and their lives. Simply finding someone I was more attracted to was not nearly a good enough reason.
Fortunately, I was fully invested and in love with my wife, so it never came up.

I can see a compromise coming on this, leave no fault divorce for childless couples, but when there are minor children in the home, have a higher standard.

Nope. The govt forcing people (or more specifically, women) to stay married where children are involved is more likely to end in increased domestic violence and tragedies. Dead children. Govt shouldn’t erect barriers to how people would prefer to live.

Govt should be a neutral party to arbitrate contracts, not a marriage counselor.

I tend to disagree. A no fault divorce is much more likely to be amicable than an adversarial proceeding. A situation in which there is lingering animosity between divorced parents would be much harder on children than would an amicable separation.

As usual, those sponsoring the governmental “conservative crusade” lacked any forward thinking. Legislation like this will not help long-term marriage; it will tear away the need for marriage. Young adults have already figured it out that marriage is not necessary to have a family unit. It has become common for couples to be partners instead of man and wife. With legislation that seeks to permanently bind a couple together, regardless of whether one person has lost the love, will lead to more and more people refusing to formally tie the knot. Why would they?

Proof positive of why kids grow up with terrible shooting habits that they can’t shake later on.

I only have a sample size of one, but my mother in law should have gotten divorced at least ten years sooner than she did.

The reason she didn't is a strong supportive circle of friends that told her divorce was wrong and marriage was right and she was a bad person if she divorced her husband.

The GOP is working hard to never get a vote from another woman again.

Not so fast my friend. The next move for these fundamentalist crusaders will be to make it illegal for unmarried people to live together under the same roof. Think I’m joking? In (I think) Michigan they voted to get such an antiquated last-century law off the books and bunch of GOP “freedom lovers” voted NAY!

Mich. senators spar over law against unmarried couples living together

I cannot imagine that being capable of passing constitutional muster. But then again, I couldn’t imagine Florida - a very moderate State through most of my adult life — being the leading censor of books.

If we had a functional democracy that would give me comfort, but we don't, so its more like watching the guy flying the plane melt down and just hoping he's not wanting to take everyone else with him.
