Very sorry to see Mertz end his career like that he was nothing but a classy, hard working kid who gave it his all. But now we see the FUTURE no more gets a series here and there. Now Lagway gets ALL reps the rest of the season. Sure he will take his lumps but man he comes back an experienced second year starter. You tell him we are going to get you a big time head coach to please be patient and that the program is in your hands.

That game tying pass he made on 3rd and 18 was a rope. Big time nfl throw stepping up in the pocket. Too bad his coach chickened out not having faith in him by going for 2 which was going to be our best chance to win the game. The game could have went down in Gator lore true freshman on the road at a big rival in front of 102,000+ fans bouncing back after a tough game to steal it and leave them shocked.

You’re assuming Lagway will be in Gainesville next year after Napier is fired.

Napier is not getting fired so long as Stricklin remains.

I would love it is he were still a Gator, but you can’t hold a billion dollar program hostage to the wishes of a single player. You have to cut out the cancer for the patient to survive. He can go hang out with his fired coach if Napier means so much to him.

Hopefully Kiffin can convince him to stay. ;)

Where did I assume? I said “You tell him we are going to get you a big time head coach to please be patient and that the program is in your hands.” That’s me saying you try to convince him to stay.

I agree. Given the choice to keep Lagway means you have to keep Napier, I’d rather roll the dice with another HC. The game day play calling could not possibly be worse.

He’d be an idiot to leave if Kiffin came to UF. Kiffin has proven he can develop a QB and run a high powered offense.

I hope you’re right. I can’t take Napier anymore. What sucks is that I was 1000% behind the hiring. Obviously, I don’t know squat.

No reason to assume he stays even if Napier does.

When you have to overcome the opposing team AND your own coach who would stick around for that?

Kliff likes it in the NFL, he'll get another HC job there next year.

LSU won… Chances of getting Kiffin here before the playoff is good… Go ahead and fire Napier

If there is a coaching change, this roster while pretty darn solid is going to change greatly.

Oh come on Tilly.. that looked to be like an Achilles tendon tear. And I have stayed at a holiday inn before :)

Montrell Johnson being out for the year would suck for the kid too and I’m not as confident about this but I think we hear he tore his acl when all is said and done.

That would mean our two senior leaders are done for the year and their career but we would see the future backfield in our freshmen the rest of the way. That second half of experience at Rocky top alone is going to pay dividends down the road in their careers (hopefully at UF) let alone getting all the reps they will now get as freshmen the remainder of the year.

Of course I could be wrong, and hope for the kid’s sake, Mertz and Johnson, that I’m wrong.

Oh and by the way, Napier is still a dumbass and his decision making cost us yet another game.
