Its a private entity in name only. Its controlled by a Board where the CEO (AD) reports to the UF President. The UF President along with the AD and at least 50% of the remainder of the Board work for or indirectly for the UF President. Basically the UAA will do what the UF Prez says do. I suppose they could out vote him, but that might mean someone's job if they did.

I’m counting the president and the athletic Director as part of the infrastructure as the football pertains

And there’s where problem probably starts with those people right there. They don’t know how to run a football program or they don’t care.

[QU theOTE="Crusher, post: 16907127, member: 6689"]There is plenty of blame to go around here. Both positions are right. Our administration has had spits, stops, and sputters in getting on board the new college football paradigm and prioritizing their big cash cow over the years AND the coaches that they picked have been a bunch of duds.[/QUOTE]
All that is true. The admin has screwed up. But I'll hammer my point again until you guys get off Sabans jock.

Saban said we have an institutional problem that has caused our coaches to fail.

The guys we hired have failed because of who they are. NOT BECAUSE OUR PROBLEMS HAVE CAUSED THEM TO FAIL.

I thought it was down where Bear Archery is but it might have been the golf course, it was on UF's site but I can't find it now.

Under the new rules, they can all be on the field coaches. Only so many are allowed to leave campus to recruit, but there’s no longer a limit on how many can coach.

I don’t remember and it doesn’t really matter because the idea was tossed out almost immediately.

I don't see a lot of evidence that one could make a conclusion with a lot of certainty in either direction. Obviously, as I mentioned above, the coaches were duds....they probably don't succeed even if they had everything perfect for them. However, that doesn't leave the UAA blameless. McElwain had to raise a stink so a full 100 yard indoor practice facility built instead of an 80 yard one. We learned after Mullen flamed out that UF's recruiting budget was in the bottom half of SEC teams. Napier was definitely given the most resources to succeed, but even he arrived to a completely dysfunctional NIL program.

I'm certainly no Saban acolyte...you most likely don't recall some of my posts regarding who I primarily blame for the sorry state College football finds itself in. However, him pointing out our administrative missteps since the Urban years, including making poor hiring choices, isn't inaccurate or any real revelation to people who follow the program.

    Right on.
I and many LOVE BHG as it is. The look, the smell, the heat/humidity, the pouring rain, the metal benches, and the 90,000 crowd. Who we are, what we do. We do NOT need some modern renovation nonsense. The gameday experience? Forcing a 3 and out on Auburn in the searing heat with a storm coming to a raucous crowd.

My point is that the coaches failed on their own and would have anyway. My point is also that the things you list are things we all know about, they are things that have been fixed and they are not the reason why those coaches failed.

It IS inaccurate for Saban to contend otherwise. Unless you want to make some kind of circular argument that poor choices by the administration makes it not the
You didn't see a lot of evidence where one could make a conclusion that the coaches failed because of their inadequacies rather than problems like facilities or NIL??? You think Napier is failing because of poor implementation of NIL? Lmao.

I listened to a podcast yesterday and really respect one contributor; but I totally disagree with the idea of BN could get another year. Here's the obvious: 1) Playcalling - I agree with Shane Matthews, playcalling never has been the problem. Execution has been the issue for three years, and I don't see that changing one iota! On offense, we have exceptional skill players. But the OL has never been a priority with the coaches, as most recruits have been projects. Our tightends are decent pass catchers, but not great at blocking--run or pass. 2) Trenches - The OL are not good grading out well, and I have no hope of that changing. We are equally bad on the DL, and it doesn't matter who coaches the defense. I have never been high on the defensive scheme. I watched the first half of the Tenn/OU game, and I saw great defensive play. Venables has a complex aggressive defense. The Tennessee defense changes back and forth with a 4-2-5 and 4-3-4. Both OU and Tennessee have envious defenses. Our defenses have mostly been porous, with zero improvement! I see no reason for another year of this embarrassment. Recruiting is waning, and it's about to get worse! I just cannot stomach the mediocrity anymore! We were totally embarrassed by UM and TAMU. One thing seems obvious, no one fears the Swamp anymore! And some are suggesting this season can still be salvaged? Am I alone here?

You are worrying about nothing my friend. The Napier era was done after the Miami massacre. We are just waiting to get the funeral date on the calendar.

The administration gets a lot of "not interested" when feeling out candidates

But I think he gets fired if he loses to UCF
