You make a fair point. However, it is worth pointing out that FSU has a decently valid excuse. They did lose a lot of their production from last season. Billy is in his third year and allegedly upgraded the coaching staff. I think we can all agree that if we started 1-2, but looked competitive doing it, we wouldn’t be very mad and bringing out the pitch forks. Instead, we’ve been embarrassed by two power 4 teams on our home field.

Who would fire Stricklin. Acting president Fuchs?

That's the problem. Need a permanent Prez, who then hopefully sends Stricklin packing, hires new AD, who in turn hires a new coach. Takes a while to line up al those ducks. In the meantime, we suffer.

Spurrier is not very mobile these days. Not sure how well he would survive an afternoon on the sideline or practice field. His time has come and gone. We shouldn't even consider destroying his legacy with an interim job. Doesn't mean he couldn't contribute behind the scenes though.

I don't think Billy has a lack of desire to win. Having the ability to win at this level is a different question.

Hearing a lot about how likeable and genuine a person Napier is from reports of parents and recruits perspectives. I don't enjoy watching him fail or accusations he "fleeced" UF for money. He's simply in over his head.

I will say however that his refusal to hire an outside OC and insistence on running into 8 man fronts and showing no creativity or fire is maddening and an understandable source of any antipathy he receives.

It would be great to have a good guy coach be successful here as opposed to a Kirby Smart or jimbo fisher but you have to win above anything else. Those numbers are brutal.

The longer we wait to make that call, the more other college football teams we will have to compete with for these same top head football coaches.

Guessing people would like to see anyone come in and try anything different rather than what we've seen each week.

Also, I imagine an interim means the powers that be might be able to communicate to recruits and players whatever plan and candidate we have working forward through backchannels.

    Just spitballing.

I don’t think anyone is in a rush to get an interim, I’m not. Billy doesn’t deserve to still be the HC at Florida though, imho. His micro managing process is holding the team back, imho. Saturday is his worst day of the week, he is not needed, imho. If he’s out of the way this team might respond and actually play better, imho. I for one would like to see what this team can do without him. I honestly don’t believe it would be worse.

Granted, there is no easy viable choice to be the interim HC currently on staff. That could be a factor right now. They didn’t want to go 9 games, most of the season with an interim guy. Okay, I get that, still think it’s being shortsighted though. Yesterday was not too early to can Billy, imho.

I think he puts more priority on other aspects than winning.

It is telling that nobody on Napier’s staff is qualified to take over as an interim head coach.

"Apathy is worse than anger, and I feel like there's apathy starting to set in a little bit in Gainesville, and so you have to eliminate that," Doering said. "I've talked to some of the folks in higher-up positions, and they have to decide whether or not things are repairable. And it doesn't seem like that."

Doering couldn't find anything positive about Florida's performances so far and even said, "I fully expect a change to be made here in the near future."

Chris Doering doesn't believe Billy Napier will last for Tennessee game

I definitely feel apathy setting in for me. It would take a monumental shift in direction from the powers that be to get me interested again and I have been a huge fan since 1990.
