Completely agree with you. I always felt that once the NFL teams did not come calling, he went into his last season looking for the buyout. Well, we played Bama well, then no passion. Every presser answer was "Well, Yeah...."

He’ll be lucky to be coaching this Saturday. Lame duck coach isn’t going to inspire the team which is why you need fresh blood to take the reins and shake things up.

Which is incredibly painful as Mullen coached some really good teams (I will give credit that McElwain did leave the cupboard full, perhaps not highly rated but those were mostly his players who had the most success under Mullen)

Outside of Muschamp, each succeeding HBC won with the prior coach's players. Muschamp made us into a Top 3 defense but didn't care about offense. McElwain had a decent offense but the defense carried him a couple of years before the offense exposed him for the fraud he was. Then Mullen came in and rode McElwain's recruits until they were gone and the cupboard was depleted. Mullen's "fantastic" offense was largely with McElwain's players. The so called Quarterback Whisperer was so bad at player progression and analysis, he not once, but twice chose Franks over Trask and once both were gone, it was EJ with AR sitting on the bench. Had we kept Mullen, 100% guaranteed we would have never known AR existed until he faced off against us torching us for 500 yards and another 200 on the ground.

Stricklin will probably offer Mullen another contract while still paying his last buy out.

Let’s not forget Napier was a pupil of McElwain.

You know you're a dim wit when you wear an all black outfit at 3:30pm in the Swamp mid September on a freaking hot hot day. Probably heard there was a funeral somewhere not recognizing it was likely his own. Surprised he didn't wear a thick jacket and sit next to a heater yesterday.

That's why I wrote "part of the problem" going cheap is a big gamble..I accept that going expensive is not a guaranteee either.

How weird would it be if Billy got up there and announced his own firing?

Just told my wife something similar today. I’m not sure I’ll attend another one this season, I’ll give them to family or sell to others instead and I’ve literally never done that in my 16 years of owning season tickets.

I realize that you don't mean to imply Billy himself set us back a decade. (I am pretty sure ). Billy has done some good things in culture and organization and other big picture things and probably the positive way the team is viewed as citizens by the sporting world (as opposed to the leg humpers ever increasing arrest records). He clearly has failed on the field though.
A good coach can certainly turn things around quickly especially with the portal. A bad coach needs to be cut quickly in my opinion to get to a shot at a good coach. The real multi-million $ problem is the athletic director. Signing long (unwarranted ) contracts with huge buyouts to insure the AD is also protected is almost criminal. That in my eyes is what really leads to long term setbacks. Coaching choices are like number one overall QB picks, always a crapshoot. The John Elways are very few and far between. Just my 2 cents.

Mac didn’t find him. Doug Nussmeier did and even that was accidental. Doug was there to see D’Eriq King and was told about Trask by the high school’s head coach.

In Skink's defense (not that he needs any help with that) over the years his opinion of Urban and even Kiffy have softened quite a bit. If you need proof I sure as heck am not doing the homework, but I know what I've read too. Yeah he's salty a lot, but funny too. Everybody that loves the Gators is in a pissy mood these days. I know I'm no genius or football guru so I can take a certain amount of abuse good naturedly (is that a word?). BUT taking abuse from fellow posters is easier because I know none of you are geniuses or gurus either. So maybe let's all lighten up a bit.
