It's Sunday afternoon. Has Napier been fired yet?

Prior to Mertz getting injured, a third or fourth string QB was only getting about 20% of the snaps in practice. the first and second stringers were getting about 60% of the snaps.
Losing Mertz and Lagway with in the last month did not give Napier enough time to coach up the 3rd and 4th string QB's.

Play calling super overrated around here. The defense and the OL sucked. Billy (finally) improved both and we were doing well until the injury derailment. I think it's reasonable not to want him retained, but the play calling stuff is way overblown.

It's like some of you have never seen a game of football. Have you really never seen a jet gain more than one yard? Have you really never seen a QB sneak from a QB not named Tebow?

You know, some of us are here to be happy about the young guys fighting hard and going toe to toe with a top 5 team through a ton of adversity. Its not always about the coach man... but seriously, is he fired? :p

We had three weeks (including the bye) to get a QB2 ready. Warner didn’t look ready at all for a guy that was one snap away from starting.

Sure. But I wouldn't say any play typically has a very good chance of success unless you're calling plays that fit your personnel.

If you're not it doesn't matter how well they execute the plays.

I think we agree it's the phrasing that's throwing me off here. Of course it matters how well they execute the plays. That's exactly why you have to call plays that fit your personnel. If you ask someone to do something of which they are not capable they will be unable to execute. That said, QB sneaks and jets are not outside the capabilities of our players. We're not asking Tre Wilson to block Nick Bosa.

This is succinctly and accurately put. So accurate, it’s in danger of getting deleted.

our jet never worked this year and we’ve stopped running it. I’ll bet we averaged less than 1 yard per carry on the jet, maybe negative yards.

Staring down our 4th straight awful year. I do think with DJ we would have gotten to 6 or 7 though.

The main concern now is recruiting. We are in the 50s in class rank right now. That’ll be by far the worst finish for UF in the modern era (low 20s). We may finish worse than UCF and USF. What is the plan to turn it around? Will 2026 be any better?

Billy has always lost to teams with more talent and generally been a little negative with equal or slightly more talent. He absolutely needs talent and that was his specialty. We should be at the highest level of worry about recruiting.

Are we planning to be big in the transfer market?

NILs should be forced to provide financial statements to, at minimum, the contributors. This is assuming they aren't already required to do so now; I cannot keep up.

If that's the case then who cares what his plan is? No players without money.

He took snaps in at least 2 games this year and even ran for a TD against Samford. 1-2 passing in that game. Kudos to CBN for getting him on the field at all.
He didn’t fumble, no mishandled handoffs, no rash of false starts. And he was the QB on that gutsy drive in the fourth qtr that resulted in a TD. And this against arguably the best defense in college football in a high intensity rivalry game. He looked pretty well prepped to me under the circumstances, in spite of the int.
I think he will get better with more experience. He will have to if we are to win more games and DJ doesn’t make it back soon.

He had that moxie in the QB keeper for TD against Samford. I understand that he was thrown to the wolves against UGA and he wasn’t ready and I don’t expect him to be as a redshirt freshman walkon. If that’s the best we have at QB currently, at least trust him to throw the ball. I felt the coaches didn’t trust him to throw at all with their playcalling. If not, then find someone you trust. Just my observations.

Exactly how i saw it too. The reality is this is the first time we had a shot to win against the puppies. No luck needed, we couldve beat them yesterday.
