I like Cignetti and what he's doing at Indiana is nothing short of a miracle. That being said, could he have a Sonny Dykes type plateau after year 1? Granted Dykes and TCU were not blowing ppl out, but I'd argue their path was more difficult a few years ago. Since that title game appearance he's something like 8-10 the last two seasons. He's definitely the hot name right now, and he's got Indiana in position to play for a big ten title, I'm just wondering what year 3 looks like for him.

Always a concern when you don't have a significant history at a school. We've definitely seen some flash in the pan successes over the years.

I hope CBN makes that decision a difficult pill to swallow as I really like what he's done with the team the last few weeks.

That won't salvage it or solidify his prospects for more than a year. It would prevent the class from being at the bottom of the cliff going into portal season. At this point only the portal can bootstrap this class into the top 20.

The thing is, we didn’t beat Tennessee because of us not because of them. Do you want to bring up Tennessee Tennessee beat Alabama while so did Vanderbilt.

A shit ton of cash will work also. But when a program is in this position, you would have to overpay for talent. It’s a very precarious situation right now being that we have a quarterback that can make some noise and he needs to be surrounded with some talent pretty quick.

I think sometimes it’s better to keep moving up if you want to move up. Long-term success at Indiana is highly unlikely and would just tarnishes image. Moved to a university that has the ability to win on the big stage and get the players and the talent in order to do so.

Recruits are bought the same white portal players are bought so there there’s no reason we can’t flip some high school players either if you want to spend the cash

And if the cash is still there to spend. I have no knowledge of that rarefied air, but there were certainly rumblings that after the disastrous beginning of the season the big money had lost faith in the program. If that's true, then who knows what it would take for the money to flow again in sufficient quantities to make that kind of recruiting/portal difference. Obviously beating UGA and Texas completely flips the script on everything. But barring that, only the donors themselves know what will loosen their purse strings.

Agree with your statement about players being bought, but I think recruiting becomes even more of a gamble as there is no assurance the athlete remains with your program in the future. It's full on free agency in college football.

And who knows what they are thinking. They first have to decide what coach they are going to have next year before they start buying a roster. I’m sure it’s an elite group of boosters but they have to get on the same page to move forward. They next four games will maybe bring their mindset together.
