In the new modern era with the 12 team playoff, he could win one at Ole Miss.

We have no options beyond Napier right now. I'll gladly eat crow, though, if one appears.

As everyone keeps saying it's easier now to get talent at a Mississippi school. Last four years of Mullen at MSU and last four years of Kiffin are pretty comparable.

I don't think there has ever been less controversy over whether or not the Florida coach should or shouldn't be fired. If anyone disagrees, please speak up.

Give buchholz hs coach a call and offer to double his salary. What's the worst that could happen.

Do you honestly think that the UF job is better than the Ole Miss job right now? I await the multiple reasons why you believe it is.

Not a single agent would agree to this, and we no longer have the clout to force coaches to sign on our terms.

Well his daughter is now a student at Ole Miss and the fans love him there. He's got the NIL/portal thing down pretty well and makes a nice $$$ so probably right.

On the other hand Oxford is a quaint little town, but in the middle of nowhere. Have to think at some point he bails for a better recruiting base and the limelight.

It would theoretically be easier to do it at Florida due to the ability to attract high end talent. Go take a look at the FCS playoff outcomes. I think only one team outside of the top four has ever won that tournament. At that level of play talent is the difference.

A few more seasons of winning meaningful games and he can get a shot.

With NIL and the 12 team playoff, you cannot go on past performance. If a team makes the playoff and gets hot it could win.

Our biggest advantage has been our geographic location in a talent rich state. Top talent wants to stay close to home. With NIL that advantage wanes. The top talent is more about the money and they have money to fly in the fam for games.

Does it? Seems like everyone can get money however they need to, so I see no reason why they can’t offer whatever they want to whoever they want to coach this team next year

Nah, I gave both coaches their full coaching record at the respective schools. You just picked 4 yrs that helped your post. Take their last 3 years then and it's not even close.:p

Mullen has two rings under Meyer, and elevated a Mississippi State program that was mostly 3-4 wins and SEC bottom feeder into pretty consistent 7-8 wins. He gave them a couple of their most successful seasons in programs history. It was the most rational hire UF could have made.

At FL he took a 4 win team and delivered 10 and 11 wins, and at least it felt like we had a shot in the Trask years. Yes, the defense started falling apart under Mullen and the offense also lost its mojo transitioning from Trask to Emory Jones (not every QB is going to work, but that’s on area I think Mullen wouldn’t go long before finding one that clicked).

I didn’t think it was crazy to fire Mullen, hell it almost seemed he asked for it with some of his decisions and antics. But when you compare where we are now it’s impossible to say we are better off than the day we relieved Mullen. I mean FFS now we can’t even beat an FBS team! The most shocking thing to me about this Napier fiasco is our defense stinks just as bad as Mullen’s last year. He fixed… exactly nothing.
