Do we think Napier gets the boot if we lose to KY? That would give the interim HC two weeks to prep for the GA game. Or, is the script already written for him to stay through the season or at least until we are not eligible for a bowl game?

8-4 every year will get fired too. Winning more is a low bar that we aren’t looking for.

The thing is, coaches can be completely isolated from payments or even the talk of payments. There’s no need to be physically connected. The money structure knows which players are being recruited. Why incriminate the staff.

In Billy’s initial press conference he said we would hate him his first two years. The propaganda all off-season was that a 6-6 or 7-5 season would be “progress”. Read between the lines.

You missed the part where I said right now. I didn’t say every year. 8-4 this year at UF would’ve garnered some conference coach of the year votes. Everyone in the SEC is not going 10-2 or better every year, only a few. To expect UF is going to be one of them most years, is just not realistic, imho. Right now UF is in the bottom 1/4 of the conference. Let’s just do some climbing first.

Lol.....so you stretched that little comment into the "uaa fell for some obscure 5 year process"?
I've seen people stretch the imagination on here, but this is extra special

With the '84 team being honored this weekend, it might be timely to revisit:

When Galen Hall was fired during the '89 season, Robert Bryan was serving as Interim President after previously being Provost when Marshall Criser abruptly resigned. He was deeply involved in the search for a new coach and the negotiations and hiring of Spurrier.

The precedent in dated but still there. There is no good reason that an interim president can't oversee hiring a new head football coach. Plus, Fuchs isn't just any interim - he is an actual president with real presidential experience who is serving a brief second term.

So you're saying that this time is going to be exactly like that time when we ended up getting one of the greatest coaches of all time! I'm going to hold you to that! :D

Saban was a bit 'o both. But I never thought he "didn't care" about his players. Exactly how he "cared" is more the question. For better AND worse.

8-4 was what we were hoping for this year but it’s damn sure not the goal of this program. You got a crawl before you can walk and I’m not very impatient, but it’s time to do something else. If there’s not a coach that wants the job, maybe Napier gets another chance to turn it around

He had a few more years left to coach and only retired when everyone else can now play the game he's been playing since he got to Bama.

Nope, sorry, really not a stretch. You do not know what was intimated or agreed to when "Billy" was hired. He has acted like a coach with little direction and urgency. If he's not in a hurry to improve, maintains a staff of questionable coaches, and seems unphased by the failure of his own process, who really knows what's true, or not? He acts like a guy that truly doesn't care. We can be sure he wasn't told, turn it around in two years or else. And maybe Billy is a liar, not out of malice but because he is now on notice. But he did say recently without hesitation there have been no conversations about his future and he and the AD talk a couple of times a week, implying they catch up weekly. FTR, do I believe he was guaranteed four years, no. But he acts like a guy that thinks he has all day. Weird guy, horrible coach.

Anyone's guess. The administration might be ready to move away, might not be. I'm sure they know he's a failure, they just might not have decided on the right way forward. I think they should keep him until end of season having made it clear he's gone. Saves a little buyout and lets players know things are going to change.

I would agree if he has Kirby's record of violations over his tenure the way Shart has over the past two seasons. But to my knowledge, Saban didn't allow or produce thugs.

If it makes you feel better to believe Nick Saban was and Kirby Shart is actively involved in illegal payments, okay.

I never said actively involved. If it makes you feel better to believe nick Saban had families move to Tuscaloosa from Hawaii, that every recruit driving expensive vehicles since he got there earned them and that al betar wasn't involved in enticing recruits because Saban was just such a great motivator then okay lol.

Big difference in what you claim I said and what you actually believe. I believe it's all dirty and some schools have been proven to get away with cheating way beyond what non blue bloods are allowed. Look at UNC basketball.

You keep fawning over Saban and claim kids ran to him without inducements lol.
