It shouldn't affect each other. But look around (cough, cough, Georgia) and see that it does. And it certainly has here in the past. The people above Stricklin have a list of wants from the head coach. Winning games is on the want list, but it is not at the top. No scandals or shenanigans is higher on the list.

What does sort of surprise me is that Stricklin has presided over some major black eyes for the University. I think they are deemed less problematic because they involved sports that do not carry the same media weight, and that firing him over them would have just attracted attention to them. But I really hope his days are numbered.

This is not a commentary on anything else concerning Stricklin, but many an AD would have been let go or forced to resign after their newly hired coach for a women's team was dismissed for cause after abuse allegations. He had two in a row.

Can you please cite who/when the uaa stated that there was an "obscure 5 year process to start winning"? I've certainly never heard anyone credible say anything remotely like that.

If my kid was going to a school and I don’t know if I’d be too worried about the sports programs. They are there for education. Some of the things of Georgia Penn State Baylor. Yeah ya can’t have that kind of shit going on. When it comes to sports though, winning is the only thing. You can’t have vile crap going on but playing to be an annual 8-4 team is second rate and unacceptable for many fans. I’ll support 8-4 forever if they are making the effort to win.

The most telling thing for me that indicated Mullen might be packing it in was when he started talking publicly about the state of college football. He was talking about NIL and the transfer portal, and all the disloyalty and financial chaos and team instability that came with it. By the way, he wasn't wrong in that regard. Same reason Saban quit. Saban said one day his wife and he had the discussion that all the players cared about during recruitment was how much money they were going to make. The nonsense about building character in a player and forming him as a man had gone completely out the window. Money, money, money. When Mullen started pining for the NFL, that was just the culmination of all of that. So, I can't blame Mullen for quitting on us. But, in the end, all that really matters to us is that he did quit, not why he did.

I sold my 4runner to a guy from Bainbridge, GA. He wanted me to take all the Gator tags and stickers off so that he wouldn't get his ass kicked when he crossed back into Georgia. I told him it wasn't part of the deal. He's probably still scraping and pealing.

At least we got rid of the coaches. Some programs keep the coach until it comes out on video. To me as long as you fire the guy and don’t hide what he’s doing, you can’t completely be held responsibility for what some other person does. They aren’t mind readers.

Saban only cared about winning. I think Napier is still making an impact on kids lives. Money or no money, that really doesn’t matter.

The problem was that he kept him around after the first report claiming he put steps in place to monitor the situation. It wasn't until the second report (which his monitoring apparently didn't catch) that he fired the coach.

You’re over a month late to the ‘I told you so’ party. All the good stuff is gone so you’re gonna be stuck with the scraps and leftovers. Enjoy

No argument here. But like I said, many an administrator has had to fall on their sword for such things.

Guys like Paterno that it went on for years and seems they surely had to look the other way.

I can only tell you what I heard Saban say, but, I do know he was all about winning. And, yes, Napier is a good man.

Funny how you felt this was directed at you despite being a general statement. Hmmm.

Anywyas, If you read again I didn't say that and have refrained from doing so. To your point I'm pretty sure we talked about exactly this a month ago.

What I am doing is pushing back on the notion that those that caught a lot of crap are now expected to "be the better man" if you will.

Was it physical or verbal abuse, I can’t remember. Verbal abuse use to be a lot worse years ago. We are pretty soft these days.

I know he didn’t say he illegally bought rosters his entire career while our guy got in trouble for talking to a kid in an airport. He is such a hypocrite. I don’t know he complains about it with a straight face.
