One simple reason, consistent high end talent acquisition. What separates the top 4 teams from the rest of the top ten is talent. It is much easier to gain commitments from the best players when Florida with the right coach than it is at Oxford. He can quickly go from the guy who makes the playoffs to the guy that wins it.

Sure, why not!? Pay him what he wants. SEC guy at heart. Kiffin would be my first choice but why not go after the big fish!

Well then by your thinking, why can’t the school they are currently coaching not just pay them more money than us. What is our value proposition? Our President, our AD, our program? There is no value in any of them right now so if the money is the same, since anyone can get money, why would they leave their current job?

NIL has leveled the playing field. If you could tell me that UF had a lot more money to spend on players then yes. I don’t think that is the case. Players go to the highest bidder these days. Geography is not as important as it used to be.

Well I don't really count rings/wins acquired as an assistant. I do agree he elevated Miss st and I got sucked in after his first 10 win year at UF. Still think Kiffin has already accomplished more at Ole Miss but jmo.

As an aside the Cowbells are getting hammered at home tonight vs Toledo 38-17. Ole Miss won a workmanlike gm vs Wake 40-6.

Interesting that the whole Rashad recruitment fiasco might help us negotiate down his buyout. Since ncaa is investigating.

Kiffin is the classic example of a coach who would be looking to make a jump to Florida where he can get Top 5 classes the way Bama does. That is the difference between him coaching at Ole Miss and at Florida.

No matter when BN is fired, tomorrow, after the next game or the next, we are going to endure another miserable season. A fix won’t be started until we hire the right coach to fix the team, assuming we can hire that person. Even if the right coach is hired, the second coming of SOS or UM, the fix isn’t going to happen quickly. We are exponentially worse off now than we were 3 years ago. NIL can help but we will need large sums of $ to buy the best players. As someone who graduated 50 years ago, I wonder if I will ever see us being competitive again?
