I think it's up to around 6 million to each school now that they get to keep, and half of that covers expenses etc. But the big items from national title: royalties and licensing revenue increases merchandise sales Donations will go up Sponsorships go up in value and increase ticket sales up
To the surprise of many, I'm ok with it. Yes it's taken 2 1/2 years to notice improvement but it's there. Unless we get a top flight coach to commit which that too can be a crap shoot, I'm ok with BN being retained. I still prefer he hires a top notch OC and if SS is going to retain BN get the word out now so as to try to recover a bit of recruiting that's now in the dumper. Vandy, stuck with their coach and it's taken what 4 years to show progress. I think it took Dabo a few years to turn that ship around. I would love to see BN succeed.
NO! This is like being in a bad relationship and getting some great sex and company the last month before the planned breakup. Billy N not a fit. Period!
Losing close games is fine if it is a means to win games in the future. So the question becomes 1.) Are the players we have going to continue to get better and not only win one big game like this but lots of big games? 2.) Are they going to recruit better players to win lots of big games?
The issue is in game blunders, not realizing practice was wussy, special teams, etc combined wth enough L’s to spell NorVeLLLLLLLLL
I agree the last four games have shown improvement, but is that fact alone enough? It doesn’t seem to be to recruits.
It’s also recency and confirmation bias plus a bunch of other behavioral biases We also had good stretches in 2022 and 2023. We beat ranked teams in 2022 and 2023. We also had close losses to good teams in 2022 and 2023. Last year we were 5-2 then lost 3 close games we could have easily won, including 2 vs top 10 teams. 2022 similar story. Right now this year is nearly identical to the last two. We lose most close games (4-9 in games decided by 10 points or less), we beat cup cakes, lose to teams with more talent, negative vs similar talent, wash when we have a decent amount of more talent (we beat UK and UCF this year) It’s the same story. But the season isn’t over. If he wins 2 of the next 3 then clearly you can point to improvement. If he loses the next 3 then clearly it’s worse than the last 2 years. If he goes 1-2 then it depends how close the losses are. You can’t lose to this FSU team in any circumstance so that’s not even worth discussing.
Name recognition linked with success is priceless. There are top academic schools out there that very few people have even heard of.
Heck I'd take a trip to the Birmingham Bowl in 3 years but it looks like we'll have to wait until next year. The thing is, next year's schedule isn't any easier than this year. Who made these schedules? When did we hire a Nole to make our last 3 seasons' schedules?
Could you imagine all the Napier believers losing their minds if you told them that a couple years ago? Now its progress, SMH.
Considering the flux in the administration, I'm unsure whether this will be CBN's last year. In fact, if we don't have a home run hire available or locked in, i'd almost rather have CBN for year 4. If he can get recruiting to pick up, keep the team playing hard, and win a couple of games, i'd be OK with that. 27 mil is mucho dinero for a buyout. That money can be well spent on acquiring talent. Once that new admin is in place, we can do it the correct way. I don't want us to make a change just to get someone else. This next hire must be a home run, and one that stack the odds in our favor for a favorable outcome down the road.
