Yeah, but corruption (deep) has been a LA thing for literal centuries.

At least they didnt make them watch the game. That would have been very cruel.

You missed the $8 million dollar offer from the city that would have put them in facilities safe for human habitation. It would have had working plumbing, heat, proper bedding, etc.

I suspect it has happened under previous administrations. Maybe all of them.

But they did coerce people into an unheated warehouse so its not false, your contention is that "well it eventually was heated so its a lie" lol. I guess now you dont have to feel bad about it. Personally, I'd think if you were going to spend that kind of money, you'd expect better, especially when better options were available.

Well their MAGA governor signed off on the no bid contract for one of his donors to handle this. Very few places in America arent into wanton cruelty when it comes to the homeless though.

I can't find that in the article but will take your word for it. The article complains a lot about the costs of the homeless shelters they did put up and I skimmed that bit.

(I could have listed the "Lousiana official under investigaion" as an issue, but that is just a redundancy....)

Something similar happened in California, before the 2022 Super Bowl.

“They just came and cleaned us out, took everything,” she said. “I know, because of the Super Bowl, they just push us aside because we’re homeless. That ain’t right.”

The cleanup was one of many that took place in Los Angeles County as the city prepares to host the matchup between the L.A. Rams and the Cincinnati Bengals. Some housing advocates say local leaders are trying to hide homelessness as they make little headway in easing the homelessness crisis

Homeless encampment near SoFi Stadium cleared away ahead of Super Bowl

He’s right that it’s a Louisiana thing. Bad contracting and public corruption are literally some of the things the state is best known for.

If you ask someone to tell you the most corrupt state in the country, there are two answers that you will consistently get far more frequently than anywhere else: Louisiana and Illinois.

Same process desi used for the immigrants flights. Corruption is same regardless of state boundary. This is the same grift getting ready to happen on a national scale if/when musketeers can get rid of enough people. Narrow the RFQ so only maga Joe qualifies,

It should be noted that Landry, even in the very high threshold for this in Louisiana state politics, really hates the majority black areas of his state, most notably New Orleans. For example, he once supported a bill that would release juvenile offenders records permanently. So why would I say that shows how much he hates New Orleans and other majority non-white areas? Well...they were only going to do it in 3 parishes, Orleans, East Baton Rouge, and Caddo, all majority black, while ignoring every other parish. Certain people were allowed to make mistakes while juveniles, but those in New Orleans weren't.

It is widely acknowledged that Louisiana has a blighted history of governance - racial issues, fraud, cronyism, etc. NOLA takes that reputation and beyond on steroids. NOLA has been Dem/minority run for decades. So there's that.

As far as "herding" people into shelters that were unheated or not comfy - well, if you've ever been "out in the cold" ANY shelter is preferable and an upgrade. No one wants anyone to suffer, but doing something to help, even if considered by some to be insufficient, is NOT a negative. So, whoever provided the "inadequate" shelter deserves at least some "thanks." But remember that this was NOLA. Like San Fran clearing its streets for the visit of the ChiComs. How exactly are those measures the fault of MAGA. MAGA may have a lot of influence, but in NOLA and SF? Really?

If you had read the story, you would realize that the city had nothing to do with it. The governor ordered the state police to do this. The city had no notice. The city had offered the state the ability to house the homeless in a facility with basic needs like adequate heat and plumbing for less than half as much and the state never responded.

Hey finally some acknowledgement that homelessness isnt just some blue state thing. But as far as 'deserving' some thanks for treating people like cattle, eat shit dude.

17.5m for rotten option offered by maga donors
8M for much better option offered by dem

Why would one choose the first offer?

Remind me again how many bids desi got for the flights and how that was legal?
MAGA has a real problem following the law when it doesn't benefit them. J6, immigrants flights, no bid contracts..see are pattern yet?

Okay but MAGA has also been around for centuries just by different names like the Confederacy, KKK, American Nazi party, and John Birch Society.

I enjoyed the halftime drama more than the game. For those who weren't following it:

    https://www.cnn.com/2025/02/09/entertainment/not-like-us-kendrick-lamar-super-bowl-cec/index.html

And on Sunday night, he performed it at the Super Bowl, the most-watched event in American TV (even though the song is currently at the center of a lawsuit brought by Drake against the company that runs both rappers’ record labels). He included some of its most controversial lines in his performance.

    ***

“Are you really gonna do it?” his backup dancers asked at one point.

Lamar included one of the most widely quoted lyrics from the song in his performance: “Tryna strike a chord, but it’s probably A minor,” he rapped.

There had been questions about whether Lamar would include the song in his performance. Lamar and Drake both belong to labels under Universal Music Group, Inc. Drake has filed a lawsuit against the company, accusing the label of defamation in the publishing and promotion of “Not Like Us.” Lamar isn’t named as a defendant in the suit.
