So, the "obvious" depiction of the last supper wasn't the last supper at all. 16 pages of outrage for something imagined.
Not imagined at all. The artistic Director was mimicking The Feast of The Gods by the Dutch painter Jan van Bijlert. van Bijlert was mimicking da Vinci‘s The Last Supper. So, if A = B and B = C, then A = C. Q.E.D.
Sorry, but I don't agree with your use of the term "clearly" over and over again. Possibly? Yes. Clearly? No.
Playing devil's advocate here . . . . If Napolean brings an ancient column from Egypt to Paris, does it become a French column?
When I first heard the comparisons to The Last Supper, I noted to my wife that the people on either side were not posing in the same positions as in The Last Supper. Virtually all spoofs of The Last Supper have the people on both sides posing. That's why I remain skeptical.
Since you've turned this into a math thread, how fake, on a 1-10 scale, is a self-identified Christian who supports a rapist, thief and liar?
"The opening ceremony mocked some art and The Last supper was art, therefore Christianity was attacked". People looking to be offended.
It looks like a bishops hat only in your eyes. To anyone else looking at it, it looks nothing like a bishops that.
For starters, there isn't one singular Bishop's Mitre design. Second, at the time of such artwork it may have well been a round top design as that is what mitres once were. They have evolved into a point over time. But as I said. I am willing to relax my stance on this while remaining skeptical and call it a day, while moving on from the endless debate.
One thing that I don't know folks have mentioned is how quickly this spread. It is almost like there was a whole army of internet trolls out there looking for something to discredit the Olympics and spread more division. Maybe like from a country that has been left out. Hmmm... which country do we know that has an army of trolls, wants to spread division in western countries, and was left out of the Olympics.
Not to beat a dead horse, but you may wish to google greek sun god, and see what headdress he has. Seems to fit rather well. Much better than a bishop's hat.
