When right-wingers like Clay Travis are bullshitting about "protecting women's sports," remember that these are the sorts of things they're saying when they're not attacking transgender people:

It is hilarious to watch the guys who wouldn't be caught dead watching women's sports claim to be defending women's sports. Of course, in the real world, here were the ticket prices to a pre-season game featuring Clark compared to a playoff game for the Pacers:

It should be noted that Clark is not currently making enough in salary after taxes to afford a chair at courtside (i.e., the Fever will apparently be paying her less than a single courtside seat costs to play games).

So last night I went to the Select a Seat event for the new Tampa Bay Sun FC Women's Professional soccer team. Wife and I signed up early. Initial playing field is within walking distance.

Added bonus. Got to meet UF Hall of Fame inductee Erica Tymrak, one of the initial signees.

I was worried it was going to be a MAGA event, knowing that there is no value more important in MAGA land than supporting womens athletics. But the other initial season ticket holders at least appeared to be there just to pick tickets. It was apolitical. I was relieved.

It may be that the MAGA types are undercover, knowing that they are under assault everywhere for their great values from the degenerate hordes. Just hoping they will stay undercover.

A local inconvenient datapoint in the “we are persecuting gender nonconformity in the name of protecting the children” narrative

Steven Houser, 67, a former third grade teacher at Beacon Christian Academy in New Port Richey, was originally arrested in March on five counts of possession of child pornography. Deputies said he admitted to using yearbook photos of three students’ faces to generate them onto bodies of women that were “sexually suggestive.”

Houser continued to message the student on Roblox after he left the school during the 2023-2024 school year, the complaint states. According to the complaint, he would frequently visit the school, which is connected to a church, to try to see the student.

For three weeks in November, Houser was on campus building a set for a Christmas show, and he would tell the student on Roblox that he wanted to see her, the complaint states. During a search of Houser’s desktop computer, detectives found a folder named “dewdrop.” The folder contained “a large amount of images” of the student, the complaint states.

Houser also had several computer-generated images of the student engaged in sexual acts, the complaint states. Other computer-generated images showed the student’s face imposed onto the bodies of other women in lingerie.

I tried to search Twitter and pulled only unreliable sites like that one. There is one commenter that added necessary context.

But you are really making my point. Such examples are so rare as to be statistically nonexistent, and can be dealt with individually, not through legislation and moral panics that generate hate. The piece was misleading in that was one heat, the slowest. And the trans athlete did not win after that. Still it appears to be an isolated example of potential unfairness, but one that can be addressed specifically. The fact that feeds try to foment confirms my point.

It’s going to continue to become more prevalent as acceptance grows.
And even a silver takes a medal from someone. Heck, even that semi meant someone didn’t make a final if top 2 or 4 advanced.

Disagree there. Same thing said 50 years ago. Statistically nonexistent. And doesn't justify the cruelty generated by the panic.

But hey, Caitlin Clark starts the regular season next week and the creepy sportswriter that hit on her at a press conference won't cover her. So there is progress!

Cruelty is never justified; but we need to be careful that we don't call someone cruel just because they have a different opinion on what is, at best, subjective content and at worst, plainly identifiable as something other than what it is claimed to be.

Yet, ironically enough, nobody cares about Clay Travis, either. Freaking tool.

Caitlin just got her pocket picked and Connecticut is up big. Of course, I’m sure everyone knows that, being the big supporters of women’s sports they are. She just had a great spin drive

One of the products of obsessive coverage and lawmaking for a largely nonexistent issue. This time no one was hurt, but many are and many will be as a result of the intentional hatemongering.

No follow up interviews as to whether members of the targeted communities feel safe, because society as a whole wants them to feel fear, especially in Florida. That is the point.

Police are investigating two cases of vandalism to an LGBTQ+ street mural in downtown St. Petersburg.

Shortly after 9:30 a.m. on May 17, a truck accelerated through the Progressive Pride street mural, located at the roundabout at 2500 Central Ave., the St. Petersburg Police Department said in a news release.

A “more egregious incident” occurred at 2:41 a.m. Wednesday, when surveillance footage captured a blue, two-door vehicle spinning out and doing doughnuts over the mural, the news release states.

Just listen to an episode of fresh air interviewing an author about her new book The Light Eaters and the so-called intelligence of plants. She covered sexually deceptive orchids, which I found a piece about on Twitter. Just goes to show you that the so called immutable laws of nature as God created may not be as clean and neat as we think.

It’s amazing how many men seem completely incapable of talking to or about women in sports. And with the intersection of race, they are just clueless.
Doyel and McAfee apologized for their idiocy with Caitlin, even Stephen A got shown up on his own show yesterday by a woman on the subject and spent the day on Twitter desperately trying to undo it.
It’s funny, creepy and baffling to watch. It’s not that hard.
