If a football player is an employee, it stands to reason that all athletes playing on a college sports team are employees. You are required to pay all employees at least minimum wage in their State of employment, provide benefits, contribute to FICA and Medicare, withhold taxes, contribute to retirement accounts, …. This would effectively bankrupt most colleges.

That's kind of the issue with the Dartmouth case. Their basketball program loses money each year. What kind of blood do the players think they can squeeze from that turnip? Unless it's more about they want the restrictions loosened on when they practice and for how long or not having to travel with the team for away games or something.

I’m just looking for contracts to help stabilize teams. Stopping the yearly portal and the ETN type of situation would be an enormous step. We would still have Filsomecash flipping to Texas at the last minute but the class we did sign would be somewhat locked in. If players outperform what they were initially paid, we would have to deal with players sitting for more money but they couldn’t bolt at the end of every season. The portal to me is far worse than the initial recruiting and cash.

That’s why Vandy’s will move down where they belong and the new league will be comprised of teams that pack out large stadiums and gen big tv money. The non competitive teams can no longer pretend that they are on the same level as the true power teams. There’s only 30-40 teams that are really playing on that level.

The MVP is a regular season award that suggests that a player was the most valuable to their team’s success from Week 1 to Week 17. Has nothing to do with playoff performance.

Subjective man. You could very well be right with a select few. If the qb play was that much better though overall, why are there so many shitty games?

I don’t see what’s so bad about the games. Also, are you suggesting that there were less “bad games” in the past than there are now? How do you even quantify that. Seems like pure conjecture or opinion.

Yeah it’s an opinion, that’s why i opined. Let me ask you…do you enjoy watching Aiden McConnell vs Bailey Zappe duke it out in a 17-10 game? Seems to be more of that than Mahomes vs Allen

I mean… that’s a rarity, and I’m sure there have been matchups with two uninspiring QBs throughout league history.

Wanne - I can’t see Vandy walking away from $51 million per year in revenue sharing, which will grow to $60 million with the new Tv contract. FSU trying to get out of $30 million now

Yep, it’s skewed from time to time. Sometimes they should give it to the guys that should win every year but they spread it around .

"I've told every AD in the country, you have to tell your coaching staff, 'No more hiring analysts. Stop spending money and figure out how to fund your NIL program. Period, end of story. We have to pay the labor, and the bill is only going to get bigger and bigger," Belzer said. "So, how could you turn around and say, yeah we could hire more support staff? That's not realistic."

Agree, they may be dragged, kicking and screaming away at some point, but they'll never willingly walk away.
