And if he received a payment BEFORE enrolling, doesn't that disqualify him from playing? I'm pretty sure it does. Technically, TALKING specifics about a deal is even a violation if it is BEFORE enrollment.

You wouldn't give a $14 million contract to Trevor Lawrence? Fot three playoff appearances in a row, two championship games and a championship? Hmmmmm.....

    With a quickness, that’s cheap.

I get your take. I don't have $14M, but, do you think Rashada will live up to that? I don't even think an NFL QB is worth that, much less an unproven a high school senior.

You can’t get an nfl qb for half a season for that much unless he’s on a rookie contract. It’s too steep straight out of highschool but if he didn’t pan out, he’d never see the third year in college. It’s rumored Bryce Young was at one mil before he played and that’s at an almost guaranteed shot at a title at Bama. It’ll cost a bit more for second tier teams. If Lagway were win a heisman as a sophy, what do you think he would be worth on the open market if he decided to portal. I’d think well north of 3-4 mil.

Pfffttt... I feel terrible for you, if you feel terrible for him. He played everyone, and got burned. Boo Hoo.

I'm not taking the Athletic's word for what the contract says. IF they have it, then they should produce it, and let people that know how to read contracts read it. IF they have it, it is clearly not confidential, so why not publish it so people can read it for themselves? They talk about it in their article. Hmm...

I don't know what journalists you have been watching the last twenty years, but I know what I see--daily--and it is a constant stream of lies and misinformation in order to sell a story.

    Sorry... don't buy it.

    Produce the contract.

But that's not what this is. You could argue Tebow was worth this kind of money in college. Both he and Trevor EARNED it. Their ACTUAL "NIL" had value...because of what they did on the field.

Rashada, on the other hand, was presumably offered this kind of money just to come and COMPETE FOR A CHANCE TO BE OUR STARTING QB. Think about that. I'd say there was a pretty decent chance he never would have even won the job. Or, if he had, would've been a lackluster QB.

Just crazy that is what is happening.

I hear ya, but, he's not even an NFL rookie, though. He's an unproven high school prospect. Stupid money.

Kinda is but I’m thinking the top 5 qb,s will be getting a mil out of hs or they won’t come. We may have to offer a bit more as Bama and Georgia will want them too along with the thirty other schools that actually have aspirations of winning.

The point I was making in my post is that if you think a QB will lead you to a natty or two you pay him, even if it's more than he's really worth.

Sure. And those highly rated QBs will get paid. But not this kind of money.

3-4 mil a year? I dunno, in a sport that can pay the coach 10 mil. That’s not really outlandish. Who makes more money , Mahomes or Reid? Are they wrong?

This isn’t as realistic as it initially sounds. Every college player is by definition gone after ~3 years - sometimes 2

Never two unless they sit a year. These nil deals don’t seem to be guaranteed like what an unproven AR is about to get.

There’s first round flops in the nfl every year.. Failure is a part of every business and has to be accounted for and absorbed.

There's a really good article on Read and Reaction about NIL valuations. I don't know how to link it. Can someone post this article?
