Analytics is sometimes useful to assess the effectiveness of certain player combinations from a plus minus perspective that might not be obvious to eye. That said, the last two years the plus minus differential of guard play has been the killer. Guards don’t shoot well, particularly from 3 point line, and defend even less well. Most of losses due to guards being outplayed on both ends

I'm not much into analytics, more of a feel for the game....
I'm not sure if Golden is too analytical?

He's not great in game with changes on the fly. I do believe he's good at watching film and adjusting accordingly after games.
Wake showed he needs to be better at throwing whatever analytics out the window and reset his team... Just my two cents.

Michigan Will be a big table setting game. This team needs the confidence!! I see way to much looking around and not enough leader mentality. Riley K might be the first I'd look to change the mentality.

    Go Gators!!

I disagree. There were already at least two occasions in this short season so far where he made very effective half time adjustments that helped us win the games.

I was going to say that as well. We've made some good halftime adjustments.
I like the idea of a staff that's big on analytics because there are so many little things that aren't readily apparent until you have enough data collected after a big enough sample of games. You can begin to see what combos on either end of the floor work best. IIRC, I think CTG said last year that you need at least 6 or 7 games of data before the fine details hidden in the numbers start to emerge. And of course that will change over the course of a season as some players start to get more experienced and comfortable.

I am pro-Golden but anti-analytics. Shoutout to the big homie @Efawcett7, though.

I think my biggest problem with analytics is when people discount knowledge and experience of the game in favor of derived statistics. It should be a compliment to that knowledge and experience… not a substitute.

I have been thinking the same, learn how to control the game (refs) and his own players on the floor and when to call timeouts and when to substitute and with whom. analytics are good at halftime and after they have time to break down the latest game.

I don't care what method or system Golden uses as long as we win more than we have over the last few years.

That’s an unexpected but significant stat! Rebounding is a critical aspect of winning games.

It's awesome and it's been the basis of our wins. It's bound to go down some as we enter the meat of the schedule, but we'll usually win the battle of the boards.

Do we get a lot of offensive rebounds because we miss so many shots?

it also shows up a lot at the end of the half or the end of the game. Whether to foul or not to foul, trading two possessions for one, shooting 3’s vs 2’s etc., etc.

But to the question, I honestly have not paid close enough attention

“Wes Chandler was Percy Harvin before Percy Harvin was born.”

    wait for it;……………………………………..

    …………,

The answer is yes! I especially like when Condon flashes inside and dunks a missed drive by any of our guards!

Not going to argue or play the petulant games that we see on Awesome Recruiting these days....
Halftime adjustments that have won us 2 games this year?
We have unfortunately (other than F$U) not beaten a team ahead of us. Wake was a true road game and the refs allowed them to be Uber physical. That took Haugh and Condon out of there game!! One of our bigs was hurt, and Samuel was the lone big left.
Aberdeen was playing UNLV basketball without the made buckets. Nothing against him, that's not his best showing!!

At the 10 minute mark, or so, it was obvious our game plan was diverted... That was his opportunity to truly alter the plan. Wake hit shots and stayed physical. The SEC will eat this team alive if that game repeats itself. Your not getting calls on the road, you must be prepared for a grind... We were not.

Golden is slow to adapt, and gets out coached at the moment. He's young and I think can be quicker at adapting on the run...

Halftime adjustments aren't going to cut it on the road in this conference unfortunately.

I don't like the body language out there right now. Just my opinion, as we get more playing time as a whole group again. Hopefully it changes??

Michigan Will be a stepping stone game. Stop looking for a leader, someone needs to step up not just Walter Clayton Jr. (One player won't beat Michigan)

This team lacks leadership and mental toughness right now!

    Just an opinion....

    Go Gators

Interesting. I use teamrankings.com cause I like the interface better. Weird they have different #s. Maybe TR doesn't reflect the latest game or something.
