Not sure about that, Hogtown creek is just underrated. Worked well for us kids growing up hunting sharks teeth.
I grew up on 15th Ave/22nd St just off of 16th Ave where it crosses over Hogtown Creek. We had an acre of land that stretched to Hogtown Creek, so it was in my backyard. Part of our land was on a floodplain (our house was at a slightly higher elevation). There were 4 or 5 times when the creek flooded and rose up to about 5' from the house. Snakes and raccoons would escape the flood to our back porch and the front yard. The creek would turn into a raging river for about 12 hours before subsiding. I'd watch kayakers take advantage of the "rapids" while checking our back porch for snakes. After one particular serious flood, the city cleared out the sand deposits from under the 22nd St and 34th St bridges, and did some other flood-prevention engineering. The creek never flooded again.
Agree. It has been since 1982 that I saw Bull Sluice rapids but my recollection is that it can be run in an open canoe with a nearly straight shot and doesn't require a ferry. I saw it in early May and it wasn't running super high. Of course I would have inflatable bags in my canoe just in case. I stopped doing whitewater after I moved to Florida back in 1982. I was mostly a northern Wisconsin canoeist where most of the whitewater is technical and not "big" water. I even had a whitewater kayak that I gave to a friend. I should have kept it for playing in the surf at Crescent Beach. I didn't think about that at the time. I only had it a short time and my Eskimo roll was not bomb proof so I never did any really hard stuff in it. I did ship my canoe (Alumacraft 17') to Florida and did some river canoe camping down here. It disappeared the same day that the then President of the Gator Canoe Club that lived next door left town. No proof but a huge coincidence.
The third drop in the 5 falls section has a wicked hydraulic that I've been in a couple of times.....love that stretch if the water level is right

Didn't know we had so many whitewater enthusiasts here. I hung up my paddle around 2008 after my second shoulder dislocation during a early spring thrashing. Im actually looking to get back into it this summer. I take the family rafting each year and have friends still paddling. I miss the hard boating and I think I'm far enough away from it now that I'll be content just getting down. Old man paddling.
Kinda sad I can find out more gator basketball portal/recruiting info on Kentucky's board, here it's mostly crap about going rafting
dude, what are you thinking, talking portal in the river/rafting threads??? Kid lols decent, 2 TOs per game, not many FTs per game.
Oh man, wait until you visit the “Rupp Rafting” forum. Those Kentucky guys really know their rafting too.
So according to Kentuckys rafting forum we are interested in this guy https://247sports.com/Player/lamar-wilkerson-46148106/
^ Hadn't seen that yet. But 44.5% from thee on 3.4 makes a game? Smoking. 6'5" guard, 40% for his career from the arc, 82% from the line. If we want a shooting wing, he is pretty good. Similar to the kid from San Francisco and the Australian.
