5th day here with little to no gas in the Tampa area. Videos of fights breaking out, mile long lines… DeSantis sucks. Vote for Trump and this sort of incompetence is the future of America.

IMO, bad as Rick Scott was/is, he always seemed competent during storms, too. I suppose it’s one of the few contexts where their constituents expected and demanded it.

DeSantis is a hater. He literally hates half of the people in the state of Florida, he hates the federal government and he hates everyone coming across the southern border, even if they are young children. He governs for half of the people in the state. When you’re in a crisis like we have been in Florida, how do you not take a call from the president of the United States or the vice president of the United States? How do you turn down money from the federal government for food for needy kids? This crap goes on and on. Hopefully, when this guy is replaced, it is by someone who governs for and cares about everyone in this state.

There were reports today that tanker trucks were delivering gasoline to gas stations that didn't have power. They had fuel, but no way to pump it. I'm not putting that on DeSaster, but someone sure didn't think that through. Going forward, since we are going to be living with these "alterations in our climate", gas stations should be required to have generators capable of at least powering their pumps and payment systems.

You think that wind rating is guaranteed for life? The structure opened in 1990, 34 years ago. I don't know if that's the original roof or not.

5th day wow? The Hurricane didn't leave the state until Thursday let's see Friday was 1 day Saturday 2 days. You really expected gas trucks to be delivering Wednesday and Thursday?

We’ve been through a lot of hurricanes. It’s obviously not unusual for areas impacted to be out of gas, but days later it’s strange to still be out of gas on a broad level. Usually the limiting factor is the gas stations having power, around here all the stations have power (some never lost power) but many just don’t have gas and haven’t been resupplied for days.

From what I’ve read the issue is with the port of Tampa.

This A.M I was able to fill up without much issue at a station that already had gas, but also had crazy lines yesterday. This morning it was “busy” but not a line backed onto the street.

Although the same stations that lacked gas seem to still be out. Not sure anything changed overnight other than the lines hadn’t formed yet. I read somewhere that the issue is getting gas out of the Port of Tampa is a holdup, although the next couple days supposedly it will get back to normal.

Five days huh? Let’s see, there was no way gas tankers could safely deliver on Wednesday and Thursday as the storm was passing through the area and by Friday afternoon, after roads had been cleared and traffic lights had been repaired, gas tankers were released. Long lines yesterday here in Sarasota but things were much better today and the flow should be almost back to normal in a few days. As far as power, got mine back Friday and most neighborhoods came back up this weekend (FPL is now saying that by Tuesday more than 95% in Sarasota will have power). Finally, by Friday, grocery stores had opened back up as did some restaurants.

Again, you can whine and cry all you want but no complaints here. Unfortunately he has had way too much practice the last few years but DeSantis, with help from Biden and the federal government, has done a really good job in the handling of this storm.

I went to a pumpkin patch yesterday with my wife and two kids to pick out some Halloween pumpkins and there was some chud there wearing a “let’s go Brandon” shirt. Guy looked like he had been red pilled pretty hard. I follow politics pretty closely but I just can’t fathom the amount of hatred required to wear a shirt like that around.

LOL, what did DeSantis do to facilitate getting your power turned on other than moving the electric company personnel 100 miles away to Ocala? Same question as to grocery stores and restaurants. You had as much do to with getting your neighborhood Publix open.

Saw a shirt awhile back that had a picture of trump on it and it said "if you don't like trump you won't like me". Took him at his word and moved on. Kind of sad really.

correct, the state didn't account for the additional trucking distances with the port not flowing yet and they didn't coordinate deliveries to areas/stations with power first.
