This is his most unhinged proposal yet. Personally I’m a bit skeptical of ESG investing, but companies and investors should be free to invest and run their businesses how the wish, with existing laws and regulations.

That's the lefty wet dream to cut off money to any entity they deem harmful, offensive or not green enough. It's only gonna get worse.

This statement clearly shows your fascist leaning orientation. Disney was NOT breaking a law when they publicly disagreed with one of DeSantis' policies. Do you actually think that an entity publicly disagreeing with a governor is breaking the law?

They are people who practice and believe in free speech. They don’t support the State (caps intentional) prohibiting and punishing speech. Like you do. You are so blinded by your extreme right wing ideology that you can literally post that speech you don’t believe in can be banned by the State and that this is something to celebrate. Private people and business have the absolute right to state their opinions about corporations and to score them according to an ideology without sanction from the State. No matter their opinions. And particularly whether the ideologies are “woke” or not. Who are DeSantis and you to say they can’t? The answer is that this governor and you are enemies of freedom. Because freedom first dies when speech is restricted. When their is punishment from the State for speaking out. State sanction and punishment of speech are the core deprivation of freedom. Once you start restricting who has free speech rights or what can be said, you have started down the path to tyranny that so many countries have gone. I disrespect anyone who supports this— including you. And it is not an insult to call you an enemy of freedom. Anyone who would post the post I am replying to is an enemy of freedom. Shame on you.

Obviously, people who are handing out the scores and telling corporations how to run their businesses are well known socialists.

Who do you think puts together ESG scores? Obviously, you have no idea what you are talking about...

I agree, all outsiders should stay out of corporation businesses. Unfortunately, this action is Florida must be taken to ensure just that.

So now you want financial analysts not to exist at all? Sounds like a real win for poorly run companies...

Those forcing ESG scores on corporations are socialists and communists. Which category do you fall into?

I didn't say that so quit putting words out that I didn't say. It just tells me you have lost the debate.

Who decides on what criteria is to be used to decide if a company is healthy or not? If wokeism is involved, it has no bearing on the health of a company.

ESG analysts are financial analysts. You said "all outsiders." That would include all independent financial analysts, as they are, by definition, outsiders. QED.

The analysts doing the analysis and their firms decide whether a company is healthy or not and whether they would recommend investment in the company. You know, like in capitalism.

No, I mean like in capitalism. You are the one advocating government telling financial analysts that they don't get to use criteria you don't approve of in their investment strategies and recommendations.

    Research assignment for you:

Prove who is behind ESG, where they receive their funding from, who the leaders are, and that they are simply harmless people who mean no harm using ESG scores that were never used in the past. Go.
