In the early 70s my California employer sent me to South Carolina. I had a Ford Pinto with the large rear window and California plates. I was in the Army Reserves, and made sure my uniform was the most visible thing anyone could see

How was that whole deal for Iamaleava not collusion? I mean really? The attorney who leads the Vol collective helps garner a deal through the Spyre Sports Group! Is it OK, because everyone is doing it? Or is it merely a shrewd backroom deal?

They are all backroom deals, because if the true intent of the deal were made public, they would all be illegal.

The hearing for the injunction is the 13th. I would assume he would take a few days before issuing his opinion.

Why would there be a hearing for a TRO the week before the hearing for a regular injunction? Very weird.

There wasn’t a hearing for the TRO. It was simply requested during briefs. Judge felt no need with hearing on the 13th.

Is it me or does it seem like the Federal Government courts are trying to kill the NCAA's oversight power in college football one ruling at a time... piecemeal.

I think they are just making college football adhere to the rules that the rest of us have to abide by.

The NCAA did it to themselves (or as @Wanne15 would say "shot themselves in the donker"). They ignored the dudes handing out Chargers and houses and concentrated on some insignificant schmuck UCF kicker to make his life a living hell. It's no wonder they are almost universally hated, and lose virtually every court case they enter. The silliest part of all is that the individual schools don't seem to understand the concept that THEY ARE THE NCAA and any crap that lands on the NCAA lands equally on them.

swamp, is there a reason you disagree? Batsey talks about it in his appearances, at least he did here in PC two years ago. He wasn’t credited, but you can find it elsewhere on the inter web and you can freeze frame the beginning of that scene when he makes the Momma insult. Even if it was a stuntman, that #62 was played by Bates.

The schools full well understand the NCAA is only a shield, one that is just about completely broken at this point.

Because none of their positions ever had any legal standing, so it's just a matter of every challenge that comes in, they loose.

It's not really the feds. But the courts..yes.

To me, the thousand pound gorilla in the room is this: if the NCAA has no oversight, then who does?

College athletics across the country is way bigger than just football.

Why doesn't the NCAA have any legal standing in a pay-for-play case?
