I am not sure that any act worthy of censure is automatically worthy of removal, as those are two very different things. However, I take it that you are committing to defending the democrats when they start ousting republicans for any rules violations?

The same question applies to Florida collegiate athletics.

Using the TENN standard, about 140 repubs should have been booted out of the US House.

maybe the SEC will go to an all white conf & only play amongst themselves. I wish this sounded more improbable.

Saving this to throw back in your face the next time Trump gets indicted. I will also remind you that you were in OK with them imposing the most severe sanction they had available to them when it's time to sentence Trump.

Republicans can’t see any further than the ends of their noses so I doubt they can foresee anything backfiring on them.

Keep in mind Tennessee is a staunchly gop state. In 2020 Trump lost to Biden by 10m votes nationally, but trump won tenn by 23 points. Therefor tenn legislators can lean into maga core values: little concern for unique problems faced by minorities, women, the impoverished; proliferation of assault weapons even to crazy people, anti-science, ban books, voter suppression, etc. these politicians will still get voted into office regardless.

I think that punishment is way overkill for something like that. I don’t care which side it is, this “off with their heads” attitude for small infractions it’s just ridiculous.

I didn’t know about this issue until a segment on CNN just a little while ago. The commentators described it as these representatives going “outside” and joining protesters, and it was their free-speech right to do it.

They said nothing about it happening on the chamber floor, and that they broke procedural rules by speaking without being recognized. I wish both sides could learn to frame things honestly, and then have discussions.

At some point, the national party has to put their foot down and start calling this stuff out, because every one of these moronic decisions is going to cost the republicans in 2024.

There is a large contingent of MAGA Gator fans who blow a gasket anytime a top recruit decides to pick another school over UF. I would love to see their meltdown the first time a top recruit says "Florida was my dream school growing up and under normal circumstances, I would definitely be going there. But thanks to the nonsense the moronic governor is doing, there is no chance I'll be playing football in the state."

Exactly. Expulsion is kind of like the Tennessee legislature's death penalty, it the most sever sanction they can impose. I i understand censure or reprimand, but the death penalty is over the top. To make matters 1000 times worse, they expel the two black guys and not the white woman. They really stepped in it on this one.

Yeah. I’m personally not a fan of bullhorns (or whistles for that matter). But this was a really severe reaction, particularly when Republicans there have all the power.
