The only fact you need to know is: "[She was selected] by a Republican administration after a rigorous application process...."

I'm talking about people's willingness to say absolutely anything without anonymity. They're now attaching their real names and faces to inane, outrageous, and sometimes profanely vitriolic mental diarrhea.

Related to your first couple sentences, I do think it's in part because they see people do this seemingly all the time on "reality" TV, and these people seem to become rich, famous, etc for speaking any outlandish thought that enters their mind. That, combined with unfettered access to a global audience that we're convinced cares about what we have to say, has led to this chaos.

Exactly! I get the feel this teacher was ready for the professor position she took. Did some outliers give her a hard time? Probably. But the sources on this are weak as to a story with strong merit. This is a give me my 15 minutes so I can get my agenda in the news most likely.

I did what you did. Along with google the story to see who is covering it. Just like the right has websites that are far out there. That is the only sources you are finding.

I mostly avoid social media anyway, but have never had the desire to express political views on there. The issue with politics is that it seems to override everything. If you are outspoken and have a political ideology that identity will override pretty much everything else work wise, socially, etc.

Also what little bit of politics I see on social media is a beat down.

That's a completely separate but equally concerning issue in our society, IMO. Too many of us have tied up way too much of our own identity into our politics, which (IMO) is the fundamental reason for so little real dialogue or change in most people's political opinions; changing their political opinion or belief is no easier than changing who they are.

Political identity has become similar to college football identity.

Except that we concede when our own college teams do stupid things and make mistakes.

    Welllllll…

When you get that booty humiliated by 30 live, not much to say. But the “refs” and in our case “Birmingham” will be prolific in the aftermath.

But when it’s other things like recruiting violations or out of game scandals like we have largely avoided, it’s circle the wagons time.

Urban was dragging us toward that pit of misery and arguably dug a big part of the current hole, but he also won two natties. Once he left, everyone was all wide-eyed about his character. But while he was here we had some “great” debates about trunk AK’s and bringing your own posses to practice.
