You're going to excuse it if it's Cadillacs, diamonds, donor organs, and F-35's they're stealing, so I'll go with death.

Don't kid yourself. That poster is perfectly fine with stealing. He's just upset people are talking about it.

There's always going to be thieves, but the mass attack - essentially looting - is new, right? (I mean other than during riots). It's hard for me to be believe that the dozens of people in the crowd have no problem with stealing. But in terms of open stealing - whether it's a mob grabbing everything they can at Nordstrom or one guy grabbing everything he wants at CVS ...what can you do?
If Nordstrom locks the doors, wouldn't that endanger all the customers in the store? The typical CVS or Walgreens doesn't have employees who could or should be attempting to physically stop something like this:

Agree. Locking them in could endanger other customers in the store. Need a stronger police presence AND a DA will lock some of these people up and maybe it will stem these attacks.

Multiple police stationed at or near all department stores? I agree about stern punishment, but you do have to catch them first.

No, but the whole defunding the police actually had an affect. Seems simple. Hire more police.

Neighbors kid got picked up for shoplifting beer. Would have been a sad funeral but at least it would have been a message to all those other beer stealers.

Those mobs operate on the philosophy of safety in numbers, why wouldn't that concept apply for a business too? I don't think having 2 people instead of 1 is going to make a difference, but obviously these stores have made a deliberate choice to go with minimal employees and not pay them all that well. If these losses are unacceptable to them, that's their problem, partially of their own making.

No skin off my back if they close, they are predatory vultures, not some kind of benevolent organization helping people lol. Why do you care about Target's bottom line? I dont.

If the dumbasses aren't careful, they'll have to start stealing cars to find a store to loot.

People like this are bad for America.
You couldn’t be more apathetic towards good citizens.
And your attitude puts good people and police at an increased risk.
It’s a real shame you can’t see how deleterious your blase crap is for America.
    Disgusting.

Wouldn't the risk be increased if you want the cops and employees to be more aggressive? Does regular shootouts in the Target parking lot make us all safe? Or non-cops taking matters into their own hands? I see a lot of people getting mad, but nothing really constructive to say about how it ends.

What we are seeing play out is anarchy. If you allow the gradual creep of anarchy, then businesses are going to leave. Businesses do not line up to open stores in high crime areas for a reason. When mobs are allowed to run rampant, then businesses vote with their feet, even incredibly progressive businesses like Target.

Retail stores in some neighborhoods are few and very far between - Food deserts? That puts additional obstacles in the path of residents to obtain food or live-saving medicines or diapers. Having a drug store nearby probably means more to an elderly resident who doesn’t drive than it does to you. If Target or CVS makes an acceptable profit at the location then good for them - maybe they will stick around and be an asset to the area.
