Give them a trespass warning and then convict them next time.

Target is pretty well staffed compared to a place like Wal Mart or CVS, in my experience.

Places like Dollar General and Autozone in the poorer neighborhood by my warehouse have basically laird our a maze to the exit door to try and prevent theft.

Whatever the guidelines call for in that particular state. Why is this hard to understand? Are you being obtuse on purpose?

I've seen dozens of these shoplifting videos on social media. Most of the time they don't even run, they casually walk out of the place, sometimes with a grocery cart overflowing with merchandise. It's just pathetic. Companies shouldn't have to put frozen foods, deodorant, lotion, tin foil, ckeaning products, etc, under lock and key.

Agreed, but also not sure what the solution is.

Your post was blaming the lack of justice or weak guidelines for closing these stores in various places, now you are saying you would do nothing different. Must not be much of a problem then if you dont have anything you would do different.

So are you trying to say there is not a theft problem, especially in states like California?

Its not a problem for me and you, if its really a problem for Target they can deal with it - its their shit. They want to pass the buck to the government and taxpayers like all corporations who don't want to do things.

I'd say quit passing dumb laws. Not prosecuting the shoplifting of certain items is dumb. Passing a law that prevents employees from stopping shoplifters seems dumb to me. I get that they are trying to reduce violence. I just don't agree with it. If I worked at a big box store, I'm not trying to stop every person trying to shoplift. If I were a small business owner, I'd be pretty pissed that I'm prohibited by law from trying to stop shoplifters.

Well, they are dealing with it. If you want to live in a city with a Target, then move away from Harlem, San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, and Oakland and move somewhere else.

It's funny since they are the ones who closed 5 stores and has to lock up most of their shelves to try and prevent theft.

So what is it, you cried to much but still having to take dramatic measures like this:

Walgreens CFO says he might have 'cried too much last year' over shoplifting, but retailers are locking down more and more products

Here is Walgreens trying to get their social justice score back up.

Maybe they and other corporations are just self-serving liars? That's what it is IMO. Why would you believe anything they say?

What do you suggest stores do that are dealing with this? Hire a few armed security? Lock everything up?
