Completely different business models, and Target has over double the number of stores

And doesn't make as much money and is 1/5 the Market Cap. One is well run, one isn't. Swing and a miss again.

I dont know shit about how well run either of them is, but its a Fortune 500 company in the top 50 of total revenue in the USA, and you are painting it as a dumpster fire. Seems a little exaggerated, and also, like I said completely different business models. I cant go to Target and buy 40 pounds of frozen chicken, a 32 pack of Kirkland beer and a $1 slice of pizza.

Target's market cap is around 50 Billion while Costco's is around 250 Billion. Yeah, Costco is better than Target by every metric except maybe offering Trans bathing suits.

If someone put in their own money and opened a store in poor part of any town, would you be upset if they charged $5 for eggs or $6 for milk?

That’s like saying the Cowboys are a more valuable franchise than the Steelers. While true it doesn’t mean the Steelers are not valuable.

Unlike Costco, Target doesn't tell you they love you when you enter.

Sure, except one is shutting down stores while the other one is thriving.

Is this anti target stuff just because they sold trans bathing suits?

I think most of the anti-target stuff came from one our resident anti capitalist-pseudo socialists.

Target was the main part of the thread because they are the ones closing down stores due to widespread and coordinated looting.

There is probably some subliminal cachet in the minds of thieves in having Target as a name. If they rebrand themselves as Death in a Hail of Bullets, upgrade their quality and customer service reputation, and give it some time, they can turn this thing around.

what’s funny about this video is it appears they left shelves full of alcohol free Fake champagne aka grape juice. The only thing of substantive value for poor kids to drink. So don’t think they are too worried about bread and toothbrushes etc.

next stop lulu lemon so my kid has something to wear to school, then off to Apple Store so my kid can do his homework. Puuuhlease.

Countdown to first defendant filing suit blaming authoritarian and racist trump for inspiring a riot and causing the damage. In Philly he would be found guilty too. Indict him

Unfortunately that doesn't tell us how much of that is employee theft. In general, employee theft costs businesses waaayyyy more than customer

So local news in Portland and Seattle examined police callouts and found they don’t support Target’s crime justification - in other words, the stores remaining open have more reported crime. My guess is that these stores were just generally less profitable and a multitude of factors including online shopping and general increases in shoplifting is putting a squeeze on those stores. I know the three stores closing in Portland are not full-size Targets - one is in an old bowling alley and another is in commercial tower downtown.
Target says 3 stores closing in Portland, Oregon, due to crime; police records don’t match up

Organized retail theft is one of the things Target referenced for closing those stores. A single incident of that will likely cost them more than shoplifting from individuals. Not sure you can just use the number of times the police were called out as the entirety of your journalistic investigation.
