Why would we not see or hear anything by now? Lavender would have missed the July 1st deadline for immediate eligibility and I would think she might wait and see who the new coach would be IF there were a change. His Twitter has been oddly inactive, but they just hired a recruiting specialist... If a change was made I don't think staff hirings would make a lot of sense until you had a new coach. Not saying anyone is not telling the truth... it's just some very bizarre timing if true.
no pressers scheduled at this time, wait and see approach. I dont see anything from other coaches nor players about leaving.
The hiring a recruiting staffer was interesting but its possible Coach Kelly becomes the head coach or atleast interim hc which would be best to keep everyone together. As for Briggs transferring she will 100% get a waiver to play immediately so thats really a non factor.
You're expecting a presser? This is more of a late Friday afternoon press release buried in the WBB section of the website sort of thing. Brutal for the program whether you were optimistic about the Cam era or not. Can't imagine any half-decent coach would take the job right now, I'd almost expect them to promote someone internally as interim HC to try and salvage something.
This needs its own thread. And from what I heard, this is true. It has to do with "player treatment" yelling and screaming too much at practice or something....some fallout between the new strength coach, Kelly rae, and cam that happened during a practice or conditioning session
Well if in fact this is the case it is quite clear this program at a some bizarro cosmic level is not allowed to have nice things. They finally assemble enough talent to not be a sure fire SEC bottom dweller and may actually have moved up from being at best the 5th or 6th ranked program in the state. Un-freaking real if true.
wow, from what I have always been told he is pretty laid back at practice. We better do something quick. We must put up the best happy face ever as a team. Even at Belmont he was known to be pretty soft.
To me, cam was probably feeling the pressure this year and was trying to push them harder than ever before..and apparently he lost it on the strength coach and Kelly rae got pissed at him and maybe threw coffee on cam and then went to the AD and started calling cam out for all this alleged mistreatment so an investigation started and we haven't heard the results of the investigation yet.
Its such a bad time to be hiring a coach, not sure what coach is gonna want to come here right now. I can see an interim hc for a year and then a search.
That would be a disappointment. If they want to make a great hire they can. They are just going to have to pay someone to get the job done. Hammon or Smesko either one would be big time hires IMO. If Cam is really out, you got to try for those 2 I would think.
I was just told Kelly has been doing most of the duties recently which included welcoming the new players along with support staff. They had heard about a couple of dust ups between Kelly and Cam, but had not heard about Natosha and Cam getting into it.
The irony is that this thread was started because the Syracuse coach was doing the same thing. And here we are.
Changes like this are much more challenging now, as kids can transfer immediately to other programs without penalty. A coaching change without a HR hire immediately thereafter would be problematic.
shout out to the two posters who brought the information to the board, just we do not get much inside info unless a few of us bring it and to be honest until it started hitting twitter yesterday no one I knew wanted to discuss it. So again sorry if we were skeptical it just is what it is when peoples first post are bombshells like that.
An admin should reach out to at least one of them. Someone went through and pruned their posts which seems pretty unfair.
