Jimbo Fisher should be available to be an OC at the end of this month and he will have a huge subsidy coming with him. I doubt he would last more than two full seasons before the subsidy runs out and he takes another HC job with a top 10 BCS team. Just a thought. :)

It’s not blind, it’s just the wait and see thing is really not effective without the wait part. We can clearly see, but tge waiting isn’t possible for some. Half the idiots, that’s pro a conservative number wanted Norvell fired two years ago. There’s nothing close to a guarantee that Napier can do it but throwing your arms up at this point is just plain dumb.

    Sarcasm Wanne. Sarcasm

People can’t say it’s no longer Mullen’s fault for the team’s issues and then wonder why OL and LB depth is so thin.

Seriously recruiting at those 2 positions was atrocious and criminal.

Muschamp 2.0 without a solid defense...dude thats harsh. That means absolutely zero offense and zero defense...and we already have our opinion on our ST.

Only if he can bring the guy who played Mike Tyson on his opponents sack...save that move for Kirby and Im on board.

You could blame Mullen, but we would need to go back and look at how many OL/LB were on roster when he was here, how many have come since he left and how many left after he left…

Last class we brought in 5 OL and ONE LB.
2022 we brought in 5 OL and ONE LB.

It can be multi factorial however. I just looked per 24/7 the last two classes we brought in TWO LB total..
10 OL total, not sure how many of them are even here or playing.
The roster shows 18 OL, I can think of at least 2-3 that left in the last two years so that puts us right on par with 5/year (about the average).
So we don’t seem to be doing any different under Napier as we did under Mullen at those positions.

There was a max exodus when Mullen was canned, is that his fault those guys left?

Well in all fairness Muschamp’s first two years the W/L record was a bit better(I’d say with crappier QB’s).
So it may have been a bit harsh on Champ..;);)

We will wait, there is now way around it at this point.
The cost and the fallout would be terrible.

That’s why this was SS most important hire ever.

I’m still praying the process works…

It’ll be a minute. These kids aren’t going from 18 to 22 by next fall

While that’s true you don’t need to just get 18 year olds anymore, and keeping some of the 20 year olds certainly would help…
(I know they were toxic or didn’t want to work or whatever reason is comforting).

I’ve never understood why you don’t just recruit a starter for each position every year. Wouldn’t that build depth?

They didn’t stay is all I need to know. These are the kids we have that want to be gators and there’s more on the way. The deficiencies are obvious so it won’t be hard for Napier to figure out where to start.

I’d think thats the idea but they grow out of position, get injured, decide they don’t like teammates or coaches. Or sometimes just aren’t any good. The less a team uses to portal, the better their first attempts to fill the roster were successful. Portal helps with misses and injuries . It’ll be interesting to see if teams can just live off the portal and let the other schools develop talent for them.

  18. Note that Jimbo’s contract is like Napier’s: no offset clause, all monies guaranteed.
Fisher's buyout if he is fired at the conclusion of each season:
    • 2022: $85,950,000
    • 2023: $76,800,000
    • 2024: $67,550,000
    • 2025: $58,200,000
    • 2026: $48,750,000
    • 2027: $39,200,000
    • 2028: $29,550,000
    • 2029: $19,800,000
    • 2030: $9,950,000
When Fisher is fired, aTm must pay the amount due on the appointed schedule. No other school can offset that cost and no other school benefits from bailing out the aTm investors with a third party deal.

If I were Texas A&M, I would not fire him. I would continue to pay him and let him be on the staff. But I would also bring in another head coach and tell him to go sit over on the end of the bench.

Probably not realistic. It would almost certainly divide the team. And, what newly hired coach would accept that situation?
