Yeah, in other words it started out as a culture war thread.

 

Good lord. Cruel segregation is now labeled “freedom of association.” Now it’s clear where you’re coming from, a place which is definitely not compelling to most Americans …. or to decent human beings anywhere for that matter.

I love ethnic humor. Don Rickles was a master.

 

My Lord, I’m not saying “cruel segregation” is “freedom of association.”

Quite the opposite.

Im saying because we live in a free country, we shouldn’t have state mandated segregation. If two adults consent to an association with no real damage to third parties, it’s not really our business with respect to policy.

 

I was at their Sunday show at the Hard Rock in Hollywood. About 2% of the material was political, about evenly divided liberal and conservative. None of it was offensive. Most of the humor was the guys poking fun at each other or themselves. Steve brought on a crackerjack bluegrass band for a bit and showed off his banjo skills.

All in all, it was one of the funniest, most entertaining shows I can remember having seen. 1:45 of pure, laugh out loud fun.

And Steve even gave a shout out to his early day shows in Gainesville. What’s not to love?

 

Wow. The jump to cruel segregation is not anything close to what I read. In fact, I was recollecting how I see association by choice every day in school lunchrooms and social events and community service organization meetings and crowds at parades. Pretty much everywhere. I see no problem with it as long as it isn’t a forced situation. Most folks are creatures of habit and don’t like to be out of their comfort zone, me included. I do, however, try to vary where I sit and stand and attend even when I don’t know the folks I end up near, and often talking to and getting to know better. It takes a small effort, but I try to not be a part of the problem. Probably makes no dif in the big picture, but hopefully it makes a small difference within my sphere of influence. I am still flabbergasted at the cruel segregation remark.

 

That’s how you see it. Perhaps you’re right, but his many posts suggest to me you’re not. In a thread today he referred to “traditional white peoples”. He doesn’t have much tolerance for those outside that group.
