So I can across this analysis of Katie Britt’s speech pattern. Apparently it’s know as “fundie baby voice” in fundamentalist Christian communities. Fundie Baby Voice, anyone? Apparently it's used by in fundamentalist communities, often by the tradwife set, to signify their worthiness as good Christian women and showing deference to their menfolk. However, it comes off as somewhat creepy and insincere to those not in the insular circles. It's the breathy, sweet, Michelle Duggar voice. Though men are apparently expected to practice parts of it, too, while preaching to others. Ellen G. White (EGW of the Seventh-day Adventist Church) has a whole treatise on it. Excerpts: "Home Instruction in Voice Culture — Parents, train yourselves to speak in a way that will be a blessing to your children. Women need to be educated in this respect. Even the busy mothers, if they will, can cultivate the talent of speech and can teach their children to read and speak correctly. They can do this while they go about their work...
They just can't help but to lie. It turns out that Katie Britt's little border sex trafficking anecdote occurred during the Bush administration but she used it as an indictment of Biden in her response.
Biden's speech was very Trump like. Flip the two and you’d have the same reactions and complaints. We’ve gotten to the point in politics to where I doubt I’ll ever hear a real state of the union speech again from either a democrat or Republican. Yay team.
Really? I didn’t hear him call anyone names. Didn’t see him expound fascist, or racist ideology, didn’t hear him fear monger or threaten retribution but rather take about hope that America is and can still be the leader of the free world. Your partisan lens is showing if you equate the two. Frankly no one is buying the centrist spin you are selling.
I thought calling illegals “illegals” was racist/bigoted. Didn’t hear “fear-mongering?” He likened MAGA to Russia invading Ukraine. He suggested Republicans were trying to nationally ban abortion, social security, and Medicare. He blamed Republicans for the border. He took cheap shots at the Supreme Court. A heckling father of a soldier who died was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor for heckling. He doesn’t need to threaten retribution, his Administration is the aggressor. If you think this was a unifying speech, good luck with that. Seriously, keep this combative attitude up and see how it goes for you. Just stop lying about the Biden Administration agenda and record, but I expect most people to see through even that.
Generally, the SOTU includes a lot of current policy and goal hyperbole. Also stats need to be fact-checked with many proving to be exaggerated. However, imo you can still get an idea of admin priorities and focus. But agree, STOU 2024 was significantly partisan and a bad precedent. it's up to the POTUS to keep it level and somewhat fair. Say a few soft jokes here and there but take the high-road vs turning it into a political rally and chants of "4 more years". Biden didn't do that. Fortunately only MTG dressed like a clown, another rep with a t-shirt promoting Dear Leader's arrest. And a few dems holding up small signs stating their political POV on the ME. The worst was the heckling. MTG screaming at President Biden in the middle of the speech and him trying to respond. If that continues and gets worse the wheels will come off. I believe approx 32M watched so a decent size audience. 75% were over 55.
If Trump said all of that in any of his SOTU addresses that’s wrong. At least I admit it. You, no. So who is wearing partisan lenses? I’ll say it again. Yay team.
