State Financial Disclosure Laws resulting in Resignations

    I have to do the same financial disclosure forms and suppose I can fudge what I put on there. No idea what sort of verification they do. I know they review them because they will sometimes come back with questions.

    I doubt it. Which is backasswards if you ask me. The heaviest disclosure requirements need to come from the top and positions with most influence. Which would very much be a Governor and state legislature in this scenario.

    Generally I’m of the mind that sunshine is a disinfectant. Rarely am I going to side with less disclosure. I never considered “volunteer” positions. I can buy a volunteer “commissioner” or board member should be limited to only having to disclose direct conflicts - but a failure to disclose a direct financial conflict should still carry stiff penalties as it’s basically defrauding the govt.
