Overall, Michigan ranks No. 14 (Florida was at 15th) in the talent composite rankings with the roster comprising of two five-star prospects, 45 four-stars and 38 three-stars. This is no where near the level of Georgia, Alabama, Ohio state,...etc. Their defense was the best in the country and the offense was good enough to win a national championship. They did it with great coaching, senior experience and intelligence and decent talent.

With the experience Florida is returning and bringing in, and the two coordinators on the defense, I'm really hoping we can finally turn the corner.

When 2 coaches do one man's job it's half as effective... Lol.

I hope we do turn it up but those are only hs rankings and fairly insignificant at this point. Their players turned out to be better than their rankings and obviously coached well. Maybe coaching is why our guys aren’t so good but I’d guess actual talent ceiling plays a big part in that.

I think under Urbans staff one of the “two” o line coaches also coached the tight ends. Hevesy coached interior OL while addazio had the tackles and tight ends. This set up differs from Napier as it still allowed for an additional on field coach of a different position.

it makes less sense to me to do Napiers model. Plus, Napier is okay not having an on field qb coach and instead has an off field analyst (O’Hara) - all the while, the two o line coach set up is basically a main OL coach (Sale in this case) and a more jr dude who is basically an off field analyst getting elevated to on field (was Stapleton). One gets paid a lot, the other far less as you are not going to get a great O line coach/premier experienced coach to come in and share the title. You can have ten off field analysts working with the o line so why have the extra O line coach on field? Role is basically the same and we lose out in another area.

To my (vast) knowledge, no other power 4 conference has a set up of two o line coaches on field. None. I don’t see Napier being smarter than every other coaching staff. I thought it was a novel idea at first but…recruiting wise it certainly hasn’t helped and on field it has been hit or miss at best. It should be a clear advantage if you are going to go against conventional wisdom and it has not been.
