OK. Want to use dueling experts? Here is mine:

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists also has said in a statement, “What is interpreted as a heartbeat in these bills is actually electrically-induced flickering of a portion of the fetal tissue that will become the heart as the embryo develops. Thus, ACOG does not use the term ‘heartbeat’ to describe these legislative bans on abortion because it is misleading language, out of step with the anatomical and clinical realities of that stage of pregnancy.”

Technically, the heart sounds that the machine produces are not the actual sound of the fetus’s heart beating. As a product manual for one such device explains, the sound is the amplified version of the difference between the transmitted and received signals. “It is important to remember that the sound you hear is an artificial sound, the frequency (pitch) of which is proportional to the velocity of the moving target,” the manual reads. “It is not the real sound made by blood rushing through an artery or vein, or movement of the fetal heart.”

    From a Doppler manual:

    Doppler Audio Processing
The pocket Dopplex probe contains a transmitter and receiver. The probe sends out a continuous ultrasonic signal (carrier), generated by the piezo-ceramic transmitter crystal, in the frequency range 2 to 10 MHz (depending on probe).
This signal is scattered by blood cells or any other "interface" such as skin, muscle layers, organs, walls of vessels etc. A small proportion of the scattered signal will be reflected back and detected by the receiver.
By demodulating the received signal (removing the high frequency carrier) the Doppler shifted component (i.e. the difference between the transmitted and received signals) can be produced. With typical target velocities found in the human body, this Doppler shift signal falls within the audio frequency range. It can therefore simply be amplified and heard through a loudspeaker. It is important to remember that the sound you hear is an artificial sound, the frequency (pitch) of which is proportional to the velocity of the moving target. It is not the real sound made by blood rushing through an artery or vein, or movement of the fetal heart

LOL. Too funny. So you have the ACOG playing politics for abortion rights. Awesome. I'll stay with Johns Hopkins, UF Health, NYU Health and the NHS. Ship is now under water. Brave of you to go down with it.

I think this summarizes the message Stacy Abrams intended.

When I read the title, then who posted it, I thought to myself, "He ought to know," and sure enough, I was right. You wallow it.

Is an electronic flutter stimulating a loosely grouped cluster of cells a heartbeat or does a heart, complete with chambers and functioning valves, required for there to be a heartbeat?

I’m quite positive that when Mrs Aging and I lost the baby that she was carrying that the doctor did not say “ I cannot detect the electrically-induced flickering of a portion of the fetal tissue of that will become the heart as the embryo develops”. Conversely, I’m also quite sure that he did say; “ I’m sorry to tell you that I cannot detect a heartbeat. I’m afraid that we have lost the baby.”

What they colloquially tell expecting parents is far from scientific. But you know this.

Except she didn’t answer his question, other than to say she talks about it on the trail.

She did answer it. She gave particulars on what a governor can do to address those issues earlier in the interview. She referenced those things after noting again that abortion is a major issue and is very much an economic one.

She has a degree from Yale Law School. I don't think they allow stupid people in that institution. Maybe I am overreaching but, it is a pretty hard school to get into.
