The same thing happened with my mother. It wasn’t the morphine that killed her. She had pneumonia which they refused to treat without a court order, and they weren’t giving her any fluids. So, she just laid there, completely out of it, until she died.
I don’t think legality was the basis of your question to me. Illegal or not, I think it is more humane to euthanize someone than take them off food/liquids and let their body fail over time. It has the same result so I’m not sure what the moral justification is for stressing the body vs making it quicker.
Yeah. Calling her dumb is silly. Thats what makes her quote even worse. She is very smart and still said it
They couldn't have said: "The future heart is beginning to flutter" just as easily as calling it a heartbeat. And again. The discounting of all these major institutions is weird. My guess is there are many many more. I literally googled those specifically. My guess is most university hospitals day similar.
Here the thing TJ. Thats not the debate in this thread. She lied/blamed men for a political purpose. Calling it out is not out of bounds.
Yes, virtually every hospital will call it a heartbeat in patient facing webpages. And when talking with expectant parents. Abrams is pointing out that this isn't technically correct, and has recently been weaponized against women.
None of them do. It's quite comical to see and call them out on it. Just know that they do know they are wrong, but their pride won't let them admit it. Funny to see and I love calling them out on it.
I challenge that it is correct. A forming heart is beating. A forming heart is just a stage of development of the heart. Parsing terminology isnt the answer.
I love this idea that we are too dumb to understand what a forming heart fluttering means so they have to dumb it down to "heartbeat" for us. Doctors talk over our heads all the time. They don't call the umbilical cord a "food tube" They don't call amniotic fluid a "baby water sack" They don't call an epidural a "labor shot" The obstetrician doesnt call themselves the "baby doctor". But they have to dumb down "heart tube flutter" to "heart beat" because thats the line we cant understand? They say what they mean in every other term. It's a freaking heartbeat. The ramifications of that can be argued, but her statement is silly and flies in the face of every major institutional term I've researched.
You are picking links from one off doctors when asked the question in the current political environment. I am giving you major university health systems comprised of thousands of doctors and medical boards as well as the entire health system of the United Kingdom. It's apples to oranges.
There can be no heartbeat absent a heart. The sound heard on a dobbler fetal ultrasound is given a name that general public can understand - even in all those links.
Did she lie or misspeak? There is a difference. Nevertheless, wasn’t the thrust of the thread about her being a dummy? So, the thread has turned into a different and, at least to me, meaningless debate.
It is essentially the same thing. If you sign a DNR or sign up for hospice, you are opening yourself up to getting euthanized.
Maybe less than you think. When we are applying metrics to women’s rights, accuracy in what we are talking about is important. For me it was the 2 semesters of embryology I took a million years ago as well as more recent literature. At 6 wks there is not a heart so no heart beat. If I recall correctly these cells have not fully differentiated into full blown heart muscle tissue yet.
Full blown 4 chamber heart is 9-10 weeks I believe, but a forming heart firing off at 65bpm is still the early stages of the heart beating. Its already firing. Thats the point. I contest that a developing heart is still a heart at a different period of development.
DESIGNED. I shall not be drug into the dumbassery of the other shit. 2+2 = 4, hence, hamburgers were designed to promote communism. But, 2+2 does = 4, so it can't be a dumb statement. god good.
