Sometimes you just need to give up on a fight and prepare for the next one. Learn the lessons from this failure and apply them to the next, a tactical retreat if you will. We keep trying to fan Taiwanese antagonism against China while 1) providing little in terms of actual support against a potential Chinese invasion and 2) seeing our allies increasing their dependence on China with every passing day.
