Heard plenty of gator fans call him that. I rarely talk to fans of other schools about it. ;)

Spurrier is NOT a god, Obviously, but he did so much more for Florida football than Foley ever did. I will not bore you with the details since you probably can name several reasons why SOS was so integral to how the Gators are still (fading a bit, but it's just a lull) a great football program. At least it was when SOS was in control of it.

    THIS is the proverbial question.
CBN just said Ron Roberts is the coach of the coaches.
WTH is this nonsense? If anything, Napier needs to be coached.
Or better yet...simply let go with his $25 million golden parachute.

There is a reason why he is ranked as the 11th best coach in the SEC.

4-8 shows a clear backwards, regressing trend.

At that point Napier’s buyout, Stricklin’s buyout, and anyone’s buyout will pale in comparison to the long-term financial damage that will be caused by hanging onto Napier.

Like you said, he shouldn’t have.

which means there is a damn good reason why he did.

Always dig deeper. Always read betwwen the lines.

SOS ain’t God but he ain’t dumb. He has a good reason why he made these comments.

I agree with this. He was explosive and even though he was an obvious liability blocking, there were times we were definitely looking for him to get the ball more.

With that said, Etienne is the one who has made his weakness become the focus. Instead of accepting his role as runningback 1a/1b and sticking around to become a better blocker and earn more snaps he and his family created this bs "running back number 2" pettiness that has shined a light on why exactly he wasn't the clear cut number 1. It makes no sense. Napier recruited Etienne. Clearly he was great with the ball in his hands. Why wouldn't he want to have him in for more snaps considering how great a pure runner he was? Etienne stood out on his great runs and on some really bad blocking attempts. Most of the times people don't pay attention to runningback protections. They only notice when there is a big blitz pickup or a whiff. Even casual fans saw way too many whiffs.

With a proper line and surrounding talent I suspect he will have a huge year with Georgia unfortunately. That doesn't mean his issues here weren't valid or that his motives aren't purely selfish.

And Mullen was capable of winning games until he made our team bad enough to have a losing season and handed off the turd to Napier.

Quite possibly, depends on how the losses look.

Six wins and most certainly gets another year.

Agree with everything you said, I just find it childish to hyper focus on his flaws once he decided to leave, that's all. He's still a douche for going to UGA.

Do you still think so if we lose to Miami, UCF and FSU?

Fun fact: A 4 win year would slide Napier into #2 all time worst win % at UF for non-interim coaches. The only question in year 4 would be if he can catch Raymond Wolf.

Miami and fsu could be top 10 teams which I doubt but in that case wouldn’t be bad losses. Ucf on the other hand looks like a no excuse game. Schedule is tough but hopes not as tough as it looks. Let’s hope Miami and fsu have losing seasons.

    Hi Wanne -

Wow, I watched the interview with Matthews and others at Spurriers where SOS made a few comments about the program,
including the "tidy-up" comment, and almost immediately after, prominant podcasters are using SOS's comments to carve up Napier.
If one watches the entire interview with SOS, I found it a bit shocking so many would pick up on it and essentially put it front and
center for the Gator 15 minute news cycle. Then of course it gets bumped up higher into the national media.

I found Spurriers comments as unsurprising, unworthy of setting the Gator news cycle on fire. From that the local media is returning all eyes
front and center on Napiers survivability. So SOS spoke the truth about the record and expressed a desire for success in the future.
He also thinks the talent level is up and if the players believe in themselves UF can turn things around and win some games.

So, from this, Ally Peek, Hightop, David Watters etc take off and go with it. Ally Peek promptly cut a series of podcasts with Andy Staples
whom seems to only see the negativity in the program and assures us Napier will be fired next year. I really like Ally but she has been on a recent
misson to paint a fairly ugly picture of the program.............. I don't disagree with many of her criticism's but I don't like her timing at all.
Having said that, SOS comments were a literal match on Gasoline for the local Gator sports media. I watched him (SOS) on Dooley yesterday.
    He downplayed the comments somewhat.

My point is this - Isn't it clear Napier will be coach against the Hurricanes game 1? I'm not aware of his impending termination this summer.
So I go back to Shane Matthews logic - Quit the damn bitchin and get on board. Fans want to cut heads off? Fine, sharpen your blades, but Napier
seems to be safe going into game 1.

There is a TON of negative momentum against UF right now, and Treavor isn't exactly helping with his shots at UF. Then of course we have a % of the
fan base that get really ugly and personal.

Reminds me of my particular business - Steam distribution in underground conduit piping. Once a "leak" develops an entire pipe line will slowly but surely "cook itself" (boil itself) to complete destruction if left unfixed.
That seems to be the track of UF football right now, IMO.

Win NOW - Seems that is what UF and in fact the entire College Football world demands. Immediate gratification. The old 4 year time allowance is really now 2 years.

That can be a tough standard to meet. Sure some do it - Washington being a recent example.

I don't pretend to have answers. I'm no coach and it's not my profession. As a fan, of course I want success on the field. As a former student and current fan of UF it is a bit discouraging to see Gator Nation reveal it's internal ugliness and fan impatience. The way the tone has gone the last month I suspect Billys path to success is shrinking and not from forces without but from forces within.

Now the media is looking at his cast of analysts and lampooning that.

    It's damn ugly right now.
