The George thing is understandable but he may do much better inside. He doesn’t have the feet for outside but may be a really strong kid.
Sucks the scrimmage isn’t open but I understand why. On game doesn’t do much for me. I like to go to it but don’t really learn much.

There are some OL evaluations out there on the OL’s performance in yesterday’s scrimmage. I don’t have the info.

If anyone does please post it.

Tuesday was the last practice open to reporters before Saturday’s O&B game. Thursday’s practice and Friday’s walkthrough are closed.

    Here’s the 3-deep from Tuesday.

    LT: 58- Austin Barber R-Jr; 57-Devon Manuel R-Jr; 68-Fletcher Westphal F.

    LG: 77-Knijeah Harris So; 56- Christian Williams R-So; 74- Noel Portnjagin F.

    OC: 66- Jake Slaughter R-Jr; 71- Roderick Kearney R-Fr; 64-Riley Simonds R-Sr.

    RG: 70-Damien George R-Jr; 53- Bryce Lovett R-Fr; 60 Chase Stevens* R-Fr.

    RT: 65-Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson R-Sr; 63-Caden Jones R-Fr; 55-Mike Williams Fr.

    Reserves:
    73-Mark Pitts* R-Jr.
    59-Hayden Clem* R-Jr.
    72-Bryan Rosenberg* R-Fr.
90-Connor Homa* R-Fr… Practicing with DTs.
    75-Kamryn Waites R-Jr… Out

Yes- Barber practiced in team drills. Nice! I doubt he plays Saturday, so Manuel will continue to be LT1.

General opinion is the OL looks better. Much better at OT. If there are any surprises it would be that Lovett, Jones and Westphal are ahead of schedule. Lovett is in play as RG1.

The only negative remarks are from On3, specifically from Nick de la Torre. He still thinks the OL is not good and needs an OG from the portal. He’s been asked specifics and just says he doesn’t like George. No other specific analysis as far as I can see.

We’ll get to see for ourselves on Saturday.

The 2-deep will play a lot on Saturday. The 3rd string and reserves will fill in and probably play late in the game.

    Projected 2-deep for O&B:

    LT: 57-Devon Manuel R-Jr & 68-Fletcher Westphal F.

    LG: 77-Knijeah Harris So & 56-Christian Williams R-So.

    OC: 66- Jake Slaughter R-Jr & 71-Roderick Kearney R-Fr.

    RG: 70-Damien George R-Jr & 53-Bryce Lovett R-Fr.

    RT: 65-Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson R-Sr & 63-Caden Jones R-Fr.

Kearney will probably get some PT at OG as well. How much Slaughter plays is in question. Could see a lot of OCs playing Saturday. It’ll be interesting, for emergency depth, to see if any of the OGs get PT at OC late in the game.

Really want to see how all of them play. If I had to pick the most interesting storyline it’ll be who looks best at RG. Also want to see how all the OTs look in pass rush protection. That was the #1 problem with last year’s offense.

Talk to y’all after the game!

my untrained talent evaluation….George seemed to slow afoot at tackle (too lumbering) to be a good fit as a guard in Napiers offense that requires a lot of movement and getting down field. He also wasn’t particularly strong (see FSU tossing him around) and you need to be physically stronger at guard than at tackle. So I am not so sure he will excel at guard. Plus, he transferred out of Bama cuz he wanted to play tackle and not play guard. Maybe he is over that after getting a shot at tackle last year and will embrace being a guard but if not, mentality could matter as well.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Lovett take over or Kearney move over at some point. If George does well, awesome. If he struggles, I hope others get a chance.

George getting tossed by fsu a had to do with lack of agility more than strength. Speed rush and get him moving and he almost trips over his own feet. His own weight used against him more than any strength factor. But yea, getting to tge second level and pulling won’t be his thing inside, even if he does have the strength

Don't know what to make of George but if he's really not able to play adequately at Guard, staff will put someone else there eventually and maybe george is unfortunately meant to be a back up. Might be moved after the portal closes?

He moved once for lack of a position for Bama. He’s a gator so I’m hoping for gaurd being something he can excel at. If he doesn’t get a starting position and wants to go where he can start, I don’t blame him and wish him good luck.

Yes, went from 265 to 305, and it appears to be all muscle gain!

    1s vs 1s and 2s vs 2s… I like it.

Hope the defense brings the blitz again. Want to see how the OL handles it.

The non love for George has me concerned. There’s been some type of praise for every lineman this spring except for George. Heck, there’s even been some good stuff for walkon Mark Pitts, but nada on George. Radio silence on how he’s performed in spring… We’ll know for ourselves in a few hours.

I don't get it. The guy is made for guard. He is a wide body that played out of position last year and got experience pass blocking. I like the looks of the O-Line.

We will have a good OL. They are big and hopefully have some meaness in them.
They will not be a weakness in the run or passing game. Johnson will get 1000 yards rushing this year.We will be better then getting credit for.

Problem is he is to wide. He looked out of shape last year and he gained weight in the off-season. Both him and Cam Jackson need to drop some lbs. to be in game-ready shape.
