Just like Louisiana. They are just more moral people than in other states. As always, it’s all about protecting the children.

Historically and currently, South Carolina is the worst state in the Union, IMO. It has some competition though.

Agreed - this story is illustrative. No just SC.

So much I could say but I am emotionally exhausted, which of course is a convenient privilege for those like me:

    40 Acres and a Lie, Part 1
After Jim Hutchinson was freed from slavery in 1865, the federal government gave him a land title: 40 acres on Edisto Island, South Carolina. Soon after, that land was taken back. Through his descendants and the descendants of a former slaveholder, we reveal the truth about 40 Acres and a Mule—and how the federal government’s ultimate betrayal fueled a racial wealth gap that persists today.

Liberals reading the link migrate from outraged to hopeful upon seeing the Bible would be banned under the law.

    Quite the conundrum.

(I'm mostly kidding and have issues with such broad laws...relax ;))

You're probably in no mood to read Camino Ghosts by Grisham. It's an interesting story.

I'm reminded of Louisianagatormom's ranting yesterday about preserving the white race, as if we were superior, or gatorjd95 going on about how America is the greatest country on earth. He - all of us - need to be a bit more humble and have broader horizons. As my hero Mark Twain said:
"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime."

That's good. I may add to the list but I am still recovering from Freedom's Dominion. This stuff sends me in dark places emotionally

I go there too, but I go out on our porch under the trees in NC and broad over a good cigar.
