    It appears that original Reed Creek board transferred a lot of their powers to Disney prior to being replaced by Desantis' cronies. As a result the Desantis cronies have little power

    LAKE BUENA VISTA — Gov. Ron DeSantis’ handpicked board overseeing Disney World’s government services is gearing up for a potential legal battle over a 30-year development agreement they say effectively renders them powerless to manage the entertainment’s giant future growth in Central Florida.

    Ahead of an expected state takeover, the Walt Disney Co. quietly pushed through the pact and restrictive covenants that would tie the hands of future board members for decades, according to a legal presentation by the district’s lawyers on Wednesday.

    The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District’s new Board of Supervisors voted to bring in outside legal firepower to examine the agreement, including a conservative Washington, D.C., law firm that has defended several of Gov. Ron DeSantis’ culture war priorities.

    You all don’t get it.
    DeSantis is probably happy that this happened, it’s less governance he needs to do and fewer bad head,items that could come if his people get it wrong there… he doesn't do this crap for legitimate reasons, he does it for show. Had the FSC thrown it out he probably would have been even happier because then he could rail against woke judges and stress the importance of him having to pick them. And even now, he can yell and scream about Disney violating their sacred agreement with Florida while doing nothing to fight it substantively.
    He is all talk and this is all for the cameras. Dude has zero actual backbone or substance.

    I dont think he's 'happy' about Disney doing preemption on the people that love to do preemption, that's their thing. Its like when someone steals your catchphrase.

    I don’t think he’s happy either, and I think this whole time the Disney corporation in California have been laughing and shaking their heads at “Those Rubes in Florida.”

    They could be bluffing, but the article says they're bringing in the lawyers. I bet if the lawyers having anything to say about it, there's going to be litigation.

    For Desantis either:

    1. He doesn’t care, it was more about the optics of publicly punking Disney on a social issue.

    2. If he does care then that means he can protract the battle longer.
