Anything is possible, I suppose, but according to actual data Bud Light sales are down -5.6% for the year compared to -10.7% during the first week of the boycott.¹ That's a net drop of five percentage points, which is considerably more believable than "not 1 case was sold since yesterday."

¹As their own VP of marketing said recently, Bud Light has "been in decline for a really long time." She added, "If we do not attract young drinkers to come and drink this brand, there will be no future for Bud Light." This helps explain why Bud Light is doing things like partnering up with trans influencers.

Bud Light sales dropped only about 5% in first week of boycott - Kevin Drum

This is a good synecdoche for our political moment in terms of "woke capitalism". Companies, not enlightened in any sense, make what they perceive to be an economically rational decision to appeal to the younger generation that has to date not shown interest in the product. They do so by appealing to that generation's values, which are often different than the older generation. And there is a backlash. But the companies are on the horns of a dilemma - they have to find a way to reach that generation for that product line to survive long term.

Bud Light Seltzer (which I often drink) has fruit flavors and bright colors. And it is consciously marketed to appeal a younger generation, not remotely like "traditional" beer. This "latest" appeal through an influencer is just a continuation.

Those in my generation just don't accept that we no longer drive cultural appeals, and we try to preserve our cultural predisposition through force because we cannot accept change with true equanimity

Well, as a woman, it doesn't bother me to be honest. I don't feel like my feminine space is being intruded upon by a guy who wants to be a woman. Do I fully understand it? No. If there is a portion of the population, and obviously it's a significant portion, that biologically feel that they are the other sex, then we need to at least listen and educate ourselves. Trans kids have the highest rates of suicide. If that doesn't turn your head, then you're going to need a lot more time to understand. It's enough for me to not stand in judgement, but to try to listen and learn. Let the parents decide what is best for their child. I'd rather research the puberty blockers for my child than have them kill themselves.

I'm more concerned as a woman about us losing rights over our own bodies.

Bud Light marketing exec behind Dylan Mulvaney partnership takes leave of absence: report

    >>Alissa Heinerscheid, vice president of marketing for the popular beer, will be replaced by Budweiser global marketing VP Todd Allen, AdAge reported on Friday.

Heinerscheid has led the brand since June. It’s unclear if her replacement will be permanent.

The move comes as Bud Light and its parent company Anheuser-Busch have faced immense backlash for its partnership with Mulvaney, a transgender influencer who rose to fame chronicling her gender transition on social media.<<

Anheuser-Busch may have come to the realization that they may have made a mistake using Dylan Mulvaney to promote Bud Light considering that the core consumers of that brand are working class white males, the demographic most likely to be triggered by a transgender person. While the use of Mulvaney will have very little impact on the bottom line of the company as a whole it could very well hurt the Bud Light brand in the short run.

Can't find it now but there was a meme with a Dylan Mulvaney bud light can and it said "what's wrong? It's just a graphic". And then right below it was a picture of the Dukes of Hazzard car and said the same thing.

Point is, once a strategy gets adopted by one group, don't be surprised when it is used against someone else.

Notice the part where the women were drinking beer in green bottles? Not sure how many american beers come in a green bottle. Maybe Stella?

They are as "America First" as a Chinese made MAGA hat.

Looks like Bud Lite sales have cratered.

I'm more of I don't want any political adds on my beer. I wouldn't buy a can of Miller Lite with a picture of some right wing nut either. Just make the beer and save the politics. I'm ok with a patriotic can maybe during 4th of July or something but that's about it. I don't want politics shoved down my throat from either side.
