I think the main reason for Russian aggression is demographics. They are going to run out of people in a couple of generations.
That's actually what happened to the mass Army project to create newer, more advanced scout helicopters. Why spend $800B when all you need is a drone to fly recon missions? No loss of life and a typical military-grade recon drone only costs 5 figures.
I can see how helicopters may lose effectiveness, but I. More concerned with defending against enemy drones. That's the democratization I'm speaking of: Can the Houthis or some small group get enough drones to take out an aircraft carrier? Its an intentionally hyperbolic question, but that's what I mean. I have no doubt we'll be using highly effective drones for offensiand reconnaissance purposes should US aremed forces see the battle field anytime soon, but how well can we defend against them?
