Isn’t that happening to the other top schools also?
    What do they do?

Yep and Mac sucked with those guys. Mullen took UF to 3 NY6 bowls. Results that are measurable in wins and losses.
Mullen’s biggest issue was not canning Grantham 1 year sooner.

You're changing arguments. I don't disagree with Mullen's gameday coaching being far superior. Not even a question. The argument is recruiting. Mullen was sub 500 with the roster he built. Why does he get a pass for that season? He left a horrid roster. We agree on Grantham which is also the reason we have a dearth of linebackers and tackles which again...goes back to roster.

Even granting the gameday coaching, Mullen still lost his share of games against teams we were better than. Lsu, aTm, Kentucky etc because he failed in so many other areas.

we had two guys that were good go to another team. I think Georgia and Alabama and Ohio State had the same exact problem so the answer is never

So how long does Napier get the pass with recruiting?
So far his classes have been great and they haven’t all stayed or played.
I’ve seen regrading of Mullen’s classes wonder what the regrading of Napier’s is…

This year we had two really great starters leave, way more good players than that over the last 2 years.
One challenge a new coach has is to keep key players while you get “your guys” in.
Meyer noted this is his recent interview. So far Napier has really failed there.
I know the word is those guys sucked, or they were poison or whatever. Seems like the narrative changes to make people feel better.

You tell me what do those other schools do?
Is their collective better than ours?

No idea how you even find that out.

Didn’t see top 10 classes lose 8-10 guys on NSD and get no flip their way. All I’ve heard for months is how great the class is, just wait and see, kinda like the process just wait and see..

Should have been what stand out player of Mac’s transferred under Mullen.
Guys having great years and going to the draft stinks but it’s a good thing (means they had a great year).

Napier has had a couple defections from his first class. It was a typically rushed first class. They rsrely pan out. He's also dealing with a different beast with today's no rules portal and NIL. He has had more promising freshman contributors in Castell, collins, Wilson, James, Moore, boardingham, and others than Mullen had upperclassmen by the time he left. You can't argue that.

Nobody thinks Napier hasn't made mistakes. Nobody is happy if he stagnated where he is at but he isn't staying with what isn't working like muschamp and maclwein were.

I say this respectfully but your takes on Napier and Mullen are so heavily biased that you give a pass to Mullen for everything after 4 years of a declining trend while condemning Napier in year 2 when he had to build off a Mullen team that had a losing record in a rapidly evolving and somehow even more corrupt landscape.

Call it excuses if you want but support it.

What was Mullen's record his last year?
He didn't develop AR and rode with Jones, where is Jones now?
Who did he bring in at TE?
Who did he bring in at Receiver?
Who was our running back going to be last year if Napier didn't bring in Etienne and Johnson?
Why were we so absolutely thin on defense across the board?
Have you ever heard a coach call a bowl game a practice?
Have you ever heard a coach talk about recruiting season?
Saw the jokes about our food and housing?
Saw the rant from Smart about how undisciplined the Mullen team was?

Napier has the deck stacked against him and his gameday management hasn't helped his cause. I hoped he was further along in that area and if he made no changes then I'd be calling for his head already but as it stands things aren't ideal but it's the horse we are riding with. It's not excuses. It's constructive assessment of where he's at.

If Mullen had brought in a Wilson, Johnson, piersall, Mertz, Torrance, plus all the other young talent Napier has over the years AND drop Grantham then he would still be here. Well, if he hadn't quit and chased an NFL job. There we agree. I think Mullen with napiers roster and a proper DC has us competitive

They win some and lose some along with having top hs classes if their name is Georgia or Bama

We lost one starter and a good rb. Rb will be fine and Princely was good but not outstanding. We will be ok there. Portal will be key.

Princely was predicted to be a second round draft pick this year. Also All SEC, that’s pretty darn good.

Anyone who underestimates TE is a fool, the only reason he didn’t “start” is because MJ is Napiers guy, he’s got a better first step and hits the high gear way quicker than MJ. Many here wanted to know why he wasn’t the 1 guy all year with good reason.

Rb just isn’t going to be the reason we win more games or not. Princley is good but not great. We could have used them both no doubt. They won’t leave glaring holes.
