Numb at this point. Just isn't really an issue anymore. It is what it is. While I have no way of knowing, I seriously wonder if Walton isn't recruiting well for kids out of high school because he is telling them he won't hit the portal and they can expect serious playing time. I can't fathom any other explanation.
Is that really necessary....... I mean it was just a hopeful thought that we go after a very good grad pitcher thats in the portal. It's not totally far fetched at all. Everyone else has said we know to go after this player or that player.... guess I can't do the same. Lol what do this have to do with this..... we need a pitcher and pitching coach not that hard to figure out.
We have no idea what's going on behind the scenes. We don't know if Florida isn't the right place for them. We don't know if Tim decided a player isn't what he is looking for. We have no idea if players who have already transferred were even considering Florida to begin with. There are still a vast number of players in the portal looking for a new home. We don't know if we have players who have signed with us, but aren't making it known because it's not actually official yet. The majority of our players who transferred to Florida made it public towards to end of July* so June really hasn't been a busy month for Florida to land transfers. * Although I think this year we'll know transfers a lot sooner. Since Walton is going out of the country sometime in July. However, I will add the lack of a pitching coach does concern me a lot. Despite the rumors a pitching coach has yet to be named. Despite the crazy season Florida had and even stranger of season I'm still optimistic about next season.
Shortly after KSP opened, UF had a small group tour of the clubhouse for Diamond Club members. As I was looking around, I happened to see a delivery manifest where UF was sending a ton of stuff to a player in Michigan. I didn't know if that was legit or not and so I asked in the "Awesome Recruiting" forum without mentioning the name of the athlete or the sport involved. I took a bunch of crap and got flamed for not giving specifics, one poster said I was making it up. Couple of weeks later, Charla Echols was announced. So yeah, sometimes players who have signed aren't announced until later, for whatever reason.
TW's midsummer report card is out. He has a 4. in recruiting and a 0. in transfer portal signing. At this point, I would be thrilled if he ended the summer with a 3.
LSU freshman pitcher Alea Johnson has supposedly announced she's transferring to Alabama. She joins former Central Arkansas pitcher Kayla Beaver, who is a grad transfer and Top 25 Finalist for National POY, in trying to make up for the loss of Montana Fouts. Why is everybody else picking up pitchers except UF? Need a pitching coach in place first, obviously, but this is starting to get scary!!
Not sure if he would've had to been there or not but the USA training camp just took place this past week I believe. May be why things are taking longer or things are happening and being kept quiet which I wouldn't doubt one bit.
I saw on another board the "possibility" of Korbe Otis from Louisville to UF. Of course, I could "possibly" win the lotto this week too. Just thought I'd pass it along.
Well, then don't look now because Arky added another pitcher and, I think, their third transfer this month: Former Mississippi State P Reis Beuerlein is transferring to Arkansas. As a freshman in 2023, Beuerlein posted a 3.13 ERA and 69 strikeouts in 76 innings of work. Beuerlein also threw well in the SEC tournament, throwing a 5-inning 4-hitter against Missouri.
This is from Justin McLeod's Twitter page. He's the editor of Extra Innings Softball: Former LSU P Alea Johnson is transferring to Alabama. As a freshman in 2023, Johnson posted a 1.41 ERA, 7 wins, 31 strikeouts in 44.2 innings. And as rickjs1 already reported: Former Mississippi State P Reis Beuerlein is transferring to Arkansas. As a freshman in 2023, Beuerlein posted a 3.13 ERA and 69 strikeouts in 76 innings of work. Beuerlein also threw well in the SEC tournament, throwing a 5-inning 4-hitter against Missouri.
Here's more good news about Arkansas softball: So far Courtney Deifel and the hogs have received the future services of Nia Carter (AA from Iowa, with one year left), Morgan Leinstock, a potential ace with one year left; Bri Ellis a former SEC rookie of the year, two years left and Reis Beurerlein from Ms State who was the Freshman of the Week at least once last year who will have three years left. That plugs any holes the Hogs had in their lineup.
I'm leaving all these portal reports to you guys who are in the know. CTW is being paid to coach the Gator SB team and anything else he is involved in should take a back seat to that. I hope we hear some good news soon.
It would be a good pickup and a definite starter in the OF. She wants to be a surgeon in the future. https://gocards.com/sports/softball/roster/korbe-otis/12999 Still want to see a pitcher or two.
well, whatever Coach thinks is great; EXCEPT, we only have 2 pitchers (when they enroll in classes) he needs at LEAST 2 more pitchers.
Seeing all this getting done by the Hogs and other SEC teams, it really gives me reservations about who really won those back to back championships? Tim Walton or Rocha and Gajewski. I mean it's kinda true that since 2018 the team has been in decline. I still trust Walton; but his history with the portal is really sketchy. While these other teams pile on the talent Tim is .... I don't know what he's doing. From the looks of things though... not much. Just venting for a sec. GO GATORS!!!!!
Pump the brakes! We made it to a super regional and had to play a superstar pitcher. No worries with Walton.
