The good thing is that Golden’s first year is really showing him what he needs to compete in a much better SEC than of yesteryear..

I am curious how him targeting top guys for the 24 class will pan out.

Going to be hard to beat UGA there. Mike White will have that team fired up and their fans will show out. Arkansas on the road? Possible. Kentucky is a toss-up. Vandy on the road? My best guess is 3-3 rest of way

I feel good when the Gators move forward. I just don't like it when they slip backwards.

We all see and comment on the lack of talent on this team but that encourages me because I feel that CTG has gotten max value from his roster. Jones has never played better for us and CC is being considered for POY.

Important that Billy started his career with 2 losing seasons and even when he started winning his success in NCAA was disappointing at first. Most consider Coach K once of the best and I think he had a losing record 3/4 seasons to start his Duke career.

Process takes time but the player improvements is one thing that gives me optimism.

    Go Gators

I feel pretty good about the future with CTG. I've seen a lot of good things regarding his coaching. Players moving without the ball. Cutters getting to the rim. Good fundamental defense. Extra passes to open shooters. I have never criticized Mike White on this board, but my belief is the coaching now is solid. Now about the recruiting...I think it's going to pick up. (grin)

Yeah, we know we're going to have offensive struggles, but our defense has given us an edge. For whatever reason, our defense has evaporated in the last two games.

Defense is a lot if effort and when all of your players start having shots way off mark or below their normal efficiency you could be seeing tired legs. Maybe that explains sagging on screens that leave 3s open and hopefully shut down easy 2s. Regardless, here we are again at an end of season synergistic slide to satisfy the Tournament craving at the expense of development. Maybe coach gets a bigger payday if they sneak in or feels he owes it to his players to win now.

Don’t forget CC is a stat Machine like Noah.
Doesn’t make it better but team really needed an Appleby.

There are plenty on JC’s that offer players that are ready. Portal too, although portal starting to look pretty risky. I think I’d rather a JC star or projected star over an average portal guy.

Maybe that's the problem. Florida is ranked 84 for the 2023 recruiting class composite on 247. We are dead last in the SEC right now.

I know it is early, I know he's in on some guys, but we may end up flat this cycle.

As Billy Napier said, this is a talent acquisition business. MW pulled some good classes. I don't expect us to be pulling a top 10 class this year, but we are going to need to show something. Next year scares the hell out of me without CC.

UF needs to figure out how to use the NIL so top players can come aboard! I am tired of Kansas, Kentucky, UNC, Xavier, Duke, Tennessee, UCLA, Arizona just take their picks. This is why with a rookie coach we will struggle just like CMW and settle on projects. We need two top fifty players every year, no excuses. Kids listen to money, if not their parents and handlers do. The state of Florida has heard loud and clear you have handcuffed us. They have passed communication between the NIL organizations in the House of Representatives, now it is in the Senate. Representatives from Florida should be in their ear and keep pushing our needs. Any enforcement with kids signing before the enroll in school or signing contracts before also, except for California kids, needs a ruling!
Chaos has ensued because all the Commissioners are just waiting for someone else to make the rules, sad and lazy. Where is any enforcement when Alabama has the Lear group setting up offices in their football stadium, seems a lot too cozy but Skankey isn’t even concerned! we will need one these also! Oh well as the world turns!
