Easy fix!! Just report to DeSantis that there’s an entire hidden gay community living in the underworld of Lake O, and watch how fast he commits the recourses to clean it up.

students at New College beginning to speak out. I hope they can stick to facts and not histrionics.

‘Our Safety Is At Risk’: Florida Students Melt Down After DeSantis Appoints Conservatives To College Board (msn.com)

“Our safety is at risk,” Sharf continued. “And we’re very concerned about the potential consequences of our school—our small school—becoming a battleground for the greater conservative culture war, which can mean violence and people who show up here to intimidate us and start violence.”

Some students, such as 21-year-old Jack Sobel, said they did not feel safe at the school under its new leadership.

“People should never be reacting to a news story about a personnel change in their school with asking if they are safe at the school,” he said.

Blair Sapp, an alum of New College who now works at the progressive group America Votes, said the appointments were motivated by hate.

Unlikely that a Democrat has any chance of being Governor any Florida any time soon, but I wonder if any conservatives are concerned about the precedent this sets not only in Florida but in other states when a liberal Governor wants to micro manage schools?

Rarely does a governor anywhere wield as much authoritarian power as DeSantis does here. Frankly, I’ve never seen anything like it before.

We should be, anything we can use government to force on others, liberals can use to force on us. Conservatives should be seeking to keep politically motivated meddling out of as many places as possible. The current administration in Florida is not a conservative one.

So their efforts were to launch a hotline, put out some general info for businesses, and have a pair of photo ops? Meanwhile, they arguably engaged in human trafficking, by moving people after lying to them about what waited on the other side of their journey. And they are bragging about what they have done as if it was something big to prevent human trafficking? Wow.

You are very free as long as you agree with everything DeSantis says. But if you're a liberal or gay (and want to be treated equally ('don't say gay')) or Black (and want your vote to matter (DeSantis gerrymandering)) or Black (and want to be able to talk about historical racial injustices) or a corporation/business seeking to make its own decisions (Disney, cruise lines...), or a university seeking to educate students in ways the governor disapproves of (UF, New College), or an elected DA who says something the governor disapproves of...)... Well you best find another state because Florida is a free state.

DeSantis is less Florida’s Trump than Florida’s Orban. He’s branded as authoritarian, by his enemies, but loved by the people he governs. So much so that he was re-elected by historic margins.

Poster has severe issues with facts. Sigh. Perhaps math is too hard and reality is just not acceptable. Be better.

Up to $1.0M in taxpayer money being reserved to pay DeS lawyer friends to defend against the illegal use of funds for the immigrant flight.

Total costs of $2.6M for 50 immigrants could have set each family up with a residence and vehicle. $52k per person to fly someone from Texas to Martha Vineyard and price is still climbing.

Martha's Vineyard migrant flight lawsuit could cost Florida $1 million (tallahassee.com)

TALLAHASSEE — Florida has agreed to pay up to $1 million to two law firms to defend it following Gov. Ron DeSantis’ controversial decision last summer to relocate nearly 50 Venezuelan migrants from Texas to Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts.

So far, the state has paid nearly $112,000 to the firms Consovoy McCarthy and Campbell Conroy & O’Neil to represent DeSantis and other state officials in a class action lawsuit filed in Boston by attorneys representing the migrants.

This is on top of the nearly $1.6 million paid to Destin, Fla.-based aviation firm Vertol Systems Company, which the state contracted for the migrant flights.

Bringing in another heavy hitter, conservative D.C. firm in Consovoy McCarthy. (Consovoy actually died yesterday.)

Cubans have come ashore in the Dry Tortugas. When will they be sent to Martha's Vineyard? Or are they the "right" migrants to stay in Florida?

If the money is coming from the Inflation Reduction Act, which I put odds on it is, then he should acknowledge that.

This would be the second time he has touted something as his achievement when it was really money coming from the Feds.
