You may know far more about it than I do. The little bit I read on it a few years ago involving the pharmaceutical tax break that was granted by Congress for relocation of facilities back during the Clinton Administration and then taken away. I've always understood that they do not control their own economy, yet at the same time they are not given the same rights under the bankruptcy code to handle creditors. At one time I knew more detail but I don't now. But I've always been under the impression it's a bit more complex than just corruption and governance. They don't have full control

The Cubans that fled a leftist dictatorship were perfectly okay with a right wing authoritarian.

Seems the migrants were told things that were not true by DeSantis' representative in order to lure them onto the plane. That is coercion and illegal according sheriff in Texas who has begun an investigation. Is being a horrible human being actionable?

Authorities in Texas have opened a criminal investigation into Gov. Ron DeSantis’ operation to fly roughly 50 Venezuelan migrants from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard last week.

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar announced at a news conference Monday that his office is investigating whether the migrants were the victims of a crime, saying they were “lured under false pretenses.” Many migrants said they agreed to fly from San Antonio to the Massachussets island after being promised jobs. But there was no work waiting. “I believe people need to be held accountable for it to the extent possible,” Salazar said. “At this point, I’m not able to definitively say here’s the statute that they broke, either federal, state or local, but what I can tell you is it’s wrong. Just from a human rights perspective, what was done to these folks is wrong.”

Mocking aside, if these allegations are supported by evidence, I think you will have to answer to lawyer’s point, even if not publicly on this board.

In their defense, there is a rather readily available and authoritative book on the subject.

I don’t think it takes being a good Christian to know not to lie and mislead a group of families, innocent people, over a political stunt. That’s just a much lower bar, like, don’t be a lying corrupt douchebag.

But I do know anyone self identifying themselves as “Christian” that would do such a thing cannot actually be a Christian. They can call themselves whatever they want, the more who do this and so blatantly fail to live up to their ideals, the more they risk exposing that it’s all a farce.
