This was simply human trafficking. I hope the feds investigate it and bring charges to those responsible.

Politically, I think DeSantis is way too cocky and overconfident. The only people this kind of cruelty will appeal to are already in love with DeSantis anyway. Anyone who is on the fence will likely be turned off by it, as any decent human being should be. It seems like this was done solely for 2024 Republican presidential primary purposes. DeSantis is spending state money for his 2024 presidential campaign.

Using Florida money to traffic immigrants from TX to MA... I sure hope the Crist campaign has a commercial out on this soon.

I hate the fact that Desantis’ and his PR team feel like they need to do this to score political points. We all know the kind of people this type of circus act appeals to

Don't mess with that playing the victim card man. I see the same posters claiming this to be some sort of liberal Heaven but it looks pretty fair and balanced if you look at the threads started and posters posting.

If you have to lie to make your point, your point probably isn't worth making. If you need to abuse people to make your point, you are a bad person.

‘Sadistic lie.’ Migrants flown to Martha’s Vineyard in limbo

About 24 hours after they unwittingly agreed to board private planes to the island, a group of nearly 50 migrants — most, if not, all hailing from Venezuela — remained in limbo Thursday night as volunteer attorneys worked to understand their legal situations.

Migrants in the group said they’d agreed to fly to Massachusetts on the promise of jobs and assistance but didn’t realize they were bound for Martha’s Vineyard. No one on the island knew they were coming and, according to their attorneys, they’d been given falsified U.S. addresses by immigration officials, perhaps ensuring that they’d be deemed in the country illegally.

“They were told there was a surprise present for them, and that there would be jobs and housing awaiting for them when they arrived. This was obviously a sadistic lie,” said Rachel Self, a Boston immigration attorney who was assisting with the migrants’ cases.

Last week someone asked me if I was willing to vote for DeSantis, I was still on the fence. I'm no longer on the fence, I will be voting for whoever has the best chance of defeating him in any election he is running in.

It is all that guy does, ever. I live in Denver and the amount of pub this loon gets out here is crazy. He knows what he's doing with the daily press shows he puts on. Like someone already pointed out it doesn't get fence sitters or unaffiliated to jump on board. Quite the opposite. But he will (if he gets the nomination) still get 78-80 million votes no matter what.

I said last week I couldn't bring myself to vote for Crist, and would abstain from voting for either. DeSantis is making that almost impossible to do with his ramping up of culture war idiocy like this.

I keep hearing that this is a political stunt, or that DeSantis lied.

Here’s what matters: are they better off in alleged cesspools like Texas and Florida, or places like Martha’s Vineyard that preach accepting all immigrants?

Why should the border states bear the entirety of the burden of loose immigration policy?

If it is no burden, and actually an advantage, you should be sending Abbot and DeSantis thank you cards rather than whining about it, and looking forward to many more coming your way.

What does Crist do that you like?

I don’t want to hear about what DeSantis does that you don’t like or what Trump does that you don’t like.

Name a politician you supported recently, and name policy reasons as to why you supported them.

The fine citizens of Martha's Vineyard fed and housed these poor folks for 1 day before shipping them off the island.

That's more than what Desantis did. And he's supposedly the loving all lives matter Christian.

I can’t believe the fine folks at Martha’s Vineyard would resort to human trafficking.

    How dehumanizing.

They didn't. They offered them the option of moving to Cape Cod, where the state can provide services for people who weren't planning to be in that location. Since these folks were lied to about where they were being sent, there is no indication that they want to stay on the island long term. If they do wish to do so, they are being given the option to do so.

Florida is not a border state and these immigrants were not in Florida.

    Correct.

    Makes no difference.

That said, Florida happens to be an immigration hub, however. Including for illegal immigrants.
